definitely, 2nd leg should then take the baton a little bit earlier to offset Coleman's horrible finishes over the 100m distance. For that reason I think Fred Kerley would be the perfect 2nd leg, bednarek 3rd leg bend, and lyles anchor leg
I appreciate this perspective. Christian is the homie and watching him miss the podium hurts but at the same time we are blessed to see maximum competition and our athletes and our team is loaded. With CC leading the 4x100 we should win Gold and my guy gets another medal
Gatlin is right. 9.77 would typically win you a gold world or Olympic championship on average. Tyson gay ran 9.71 ad came in second. These times are getting insane. I was shocked two extra people got to 9.69
@adonisexom3707 yep! I. agree. Even low 9.8's you have to tip it to him too in that situation because on average in the championships the race usually is won at around 9.8 something
Maaan look.....Noah has to go against Kishane Thompson, Oblique Seville, and Ferdinand Omanyala, who have great 100m times and have hit 9.77, 9.80, and 9.79. As someone said in the comments, there is also Laetrile Tobogo, Zharnell Hughes, and Andre Degrasse. The 100m in the Olympics will be stacked, so Noah has his work cut out for him. This year, the 100m and the 4x100m relay will be a joy to watch!
@@User.Joshua I forgot all about him, yeah it's definitely gonna' be a problem at the Olympics! Noah has his work cut out for him! I'm going to enjoy seeing it though..ha!
I love track, but being a pro track athlete just seems like one of the toughest disciplines out there. Not so much the training, but the fact that you can be one of the best in the world and not get much credit for it. The 20th best finance guy in the world is definitely a billionaire. The 20th best sprinter in the world nobody knows their reputation outside the hardcore fans.
I'm snoring. Dude wouldn't have even made the team US Team based on his last run. Between the 3 Americans, Omanyala from Kenya, Seville and Krishane Thompson with Jamaica, it's not out of the range of possibilities that he'd come in last place in the finals. I'm thinking 7th
@@funkslave9425 did he? He ran a 10.02. That's what the 6th place finisher ran in the US trials. Which brings up another point. Dude is from Texas. He's probably running for Italy because that's the only way he'd make it to the Olympics. Dude ran the race of his life in Tokyo and hasn't replicated that performance in 4 years. And even running a 9.8 then that's still slower than the world leading time right now that was just set about a week ago.
Man Coleman runs a good 400 and 200. Him being ran down the way he does in the 100 has to be mental. Coleman has a head to head win against Tobago in the 200. Coleman tightens up more in the 100 than the two
It’s not that. As a UT alum (1994 grad) who ran on a full track scholarship, I’ve always closely watched Justin Gaitlin AND Christian Coleman. The problem with Christian in the 100 is he has no phases. I want you to truly pay attention. Truly look at a few of his races. You will see his turnover and stride is the same exact way from 10-15 meters to the finish. There is no change at all. This is why the field has always come back to him, even when he wins. It’s why when healthy and trained, he is damn near unbeatable in the 60. He reaches his top speed so quickly, where as traditional runner usually reach it around 40-50 ‘meters. Then, as you said, it causes him to tighten up because he is trying to maintain. But no one can run the 100 meters at one pace. That’s why there are phases. Christian has no phases. It’s just go and get it!!
@@vulturemode3464 I don’t think it’s the training. It’s his strategy/phases. He just gets out and has no phases. Think about this. Grant Holloway. The field always comes back to him. Now the difference is, of course, Grant has hurdles, so he actually has to close his stride. But, same concept. Grant gets to his sprint speed to damn fast, he kills everyone those first 5-6 hurdles, then they come back to him. Imagine if he took a little off his start where he would be able to open that stride up later in the race and reach his max. He would be unbeatable because his form is so perfect. On the flip side, it’s almost as if Christian HAS to run this way. He is shorter. It’s clear to everyone his stride is shorter on the latter part of the race. It’s just my opinion if he took a little off his first 20, so he could use that drive phase for more explosion he would fair better. I mean being a world champion and running in the 9.7’s is nothing to sneeze at, you know? Haha but he is older now. He still has that explosive 60 meters, but may have to twerk just a little
Kishane and oblique seville will be dangerous over the 100m, Lyles could be in trouble, and of course don't forget Laetrile Tobogo and Ominyala and even a Zharnell Hughes per chance
@@GreekboyyD I see your point, de grasse always peaks when it matters but I feel like he won't be able to do it this time. The 200m at Tokyo were generally a slow event compared to the Worlds events in 2022, and 2023, in other words De Grasse's best time ever in 2022 would not make the cut this year against lyles, Knighton, bednarek and letsile Tobago. In the 100m I really don't feel de grasse has a chance at all. he'll probably qualify but he has never showed consistent pace to win an olympic gold in the 100m
I think Mr. Coleman needs to develop more lower body strength in the off season. He needs to hit it hard. add more power from his toes to glutes! Everything in between! He definitely has the speed. it is too obvious that he can't consistently sustain top end speed against the best in the world. this is a crime! He should be at the Olympics in the 100 and 200, most definitely! if he wants to contend and win , he needs to come back next season a physically more powerful person!
@@peerlessbeard8914 He definitely should continue to run the 60. indoors is a different season and he's pretty much the best at it. it does not take away from the outdoor season. He is not getting out "too fast" I don't believe that there is such a thing as "starting too fast" in the 100 or 200. I believe if he concentrates on building his lower body strength, he will be able to hold his top end speed for longer. Every runner is losing speed at about the 60 or 70 marks. the ones who win are those who are strong enough to hold it longer. he doesn't hold his form because he's not strong enough and begins to panic when being pushed. and its mental also. but I think him focusing on improving total body strength to include a greater focus on lower body strength will help him greatly. he has to change it up or he will continue to be inconsistent in the 100 and 200.
Why does he struggle to finish in the 100? I feel like I’ve never seen someone start off so well always die out so drastically in the 100. Why does he struggle so much
@@macjones9376 I agree about the strength but u definitely can get out to fast in the 200m and I think in 100m to. I think if he want to get better at the 100m spend more time with relaxing, patience, and driving longer instead of just trying to get a great start reach top speed as fast at possible then hold on witch works in the 60 for him
He should be on that 200 team Knighton ass must be banned he got caught hot handed in the sauce doping for too long and world athletics got banned But when us likes u they won’t ban you absolutely disgusting just make it legal for everyone
Definitely have to feel for Coleman. That said, this should be a wake up call for him that while he has the greatest start in history, his top end mechanics are just terrible for a professional sprinter, and that’s why he’s being run down over the last 20 meters. Classic over-pushing, striking the ground too far in front, arms all over the place, not relaxed. The over-pushing is 80% of his problem though, and it kills his knee lift, drags out his ground contact times. If he can clean that up he could be a consistent 9.7 runner. Let’s hope he fixes this
Christian Coleman is still one of the best, the top 3 still represents. Coleman just gotta run thec4x100m and focus on the diamond races. He is good and we respect him over here in ja
Great starter doesn’t equate to being a great 100m runner. The question should be what made us expect him to for sure qualify? The 60m? His start? What’s crazy is most 100m greats don’t even start well. That should tell you what matters the most. Speed endurance… overall top end speed, etc. and in most 60m races Noah and others are catching up to him at that 60m mark.
Shelly Ann Frasier price. In fact Shelly Ann has also won the 200 Meter at the world championships on one occasion . Her start was so amazing in her long prime no one could run her down even at that one 200 meter final at the world championship. There is no set rules in this game. Fast starter can win the 100 meter. The problem is not that fast starter can’t win it is that there are not enough exceptionally fast starter like Shelly Ann and Ben Johnson to nullify the Endurance of the other great sprinters
I was at the meet. We were in the crowd literally praying he would get the 200m because we all know he’s an amazing sprinter. The crazy thing is he didn’t make any mistakes. He ran every race well. He just got beat. That’s the talent we have this year. Kenny B was known as a 200m guy now he’s on the 100m team. Kerley was a 400m guy now he’s in the 100m team. Coleman did everything right and still lost. Life’s not fair man
When Lamont won Gold in Tokyo with 9.80…the internet instantly tried to discredit him by saying the time was slow. Noah runs 9.83 at trials with a PB of 9.82 and people act like he’s the next Bolt and is going to demolish his WRs. Delusional thinking as usual.
Coleman frankly isn't back in peak form yet, 9.76 form. That suspension has been harder for him to recover from than he expected, I believe. He appears to have lost some weight but his strength hasn't returned yet. I expect him to be fully back next year forward.
Hey Rodney just to correct you bro. USA is not the first or only country where a male athelete runs sub 10 (9.9) and did not make the national team. Jamaica did this back in 2012 when Micheal Frater ran 9.94 and came fourth so he did not make the team but was a part of the relay team. In that race Yohan Blake won in 9.75, Bolt came second in 9.86 and Asafa came third in 9.88. I also think the wind reading was a positive 1.1 so please check the stats before making those kind of comment bro.
Thats been Colemans habit though. He doesn't run his fastest when it really matters. The great ones run faster than everyone else when the stakes are highest.
Guys, there can only be one winner truly. No matter the amount of potential one has, someone will fall short. If Christ come on top, then are we gonna forget the other athletes beating him ?
in the US is strong competition, if he was from any other country(except Jamajka😀) he would easily go to the Olympics. Both Christians🙂. Unfortunately it is limited to only 3 contestants per country.
I don’t think Coleman should be on the 4x100… I like the order of bednarek > kurley > knighton > lyles…. Bednareks curve in that 200 meter final was crazy
He is still the best of the best! Christian is a dominant magnificent astonishing athlete! His running skills are outstanding! With his fire blast out of the box as the first leg in the men’s 4x100m relay, they are sure to break Olympic world records and of course win the GOLD! 🥇🔥🇺🇸♥️🤍💙🇺🇸🔥💋🥇
Anchor? Are you serious! The man has NO TOP END. Any of these top athletes get the stick beside him or just behind him will SHRED him to the line. He has never, ever been a top end runner. He needs to be placed elsewhere.
I don’t get why they don’t take the fastest times….so pointless to run 3 times and be top 3. More unnecessary steps to get injured. At the most they should run 2 times and who ever gets the fastest times gets to go to the Olympics
its mot over for him he need to change his college coach and get a pro coach he is not in college no more,if you watch his running style its the same from when he was in college, likeeisd Anby Steiner dhe meed yo change also she is still with her college coach
Americans may need a low 9.7 or high 9.6 to get the gold this Olympics. If all these guys are fit, it's a tough won. But hey, it's who shows up on the day. That omanyala guy never shows up on the big stage. The new Jamaicans are top tier but nerves will play a big part. Noah has his work cut out.
The winner of the USA one hundred would only be Third in Jamaica. Dont forget that the number one sprint nation in the world pound for pound was always Jamaica and for long stretches it is often number one outright. Stop over hyping USA they no longer the best at everything in the world anymore. Them being the best at everything was an historical anomaly because they were the first country in the world to create a financial well off middle class. Every other country in the world middle class had to spend every waking hour struggling for their daily bread. Perusing sports at a high level was a luxury
9.8 to make the team and yall proibably going to fail to get a gold lmao. Olympic qualifying is dumb, keep it a national champ and base selection on fastest times in the year.
Coleman has not improved he has been a out of this world the first 30-40m...but nothing after how has he not figured the 2nd part of this race after all this time
@@JohnDoe-12 sucks to see the second best in the world from shithole countries going to the Olympics while the top 10 in the world sit at home watching. The Olympic concept is dumb. They suspended the 1968 200m runners for political protest but the entire US Olympic team boycotted the 1980 Olympics due to politics
Dennis Mitchell of 2020s is Noah Lyles, all talk and bluster with no big win, I will give him props once he wins the 100 at Olympics. He's kind of annoying, Dennis Mitchell all over again while those Jamaicans are coming on, jus sayin
No wins??? Lyles has more World Championships Gold Medals than his peers in the post Bolt Generation. Dennis only won 3 bronze medals (2 WC and 1 Olympics) and 3 relay gold medals (2 WC and 1 Olympics) I agree that Lyles does need to win Olympic gold to complete is resume but there is no comparison between Lyles and Mitchell when it comes to medal hardware
He’s only been in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and he wasn’t even in the 100M; and he did get an Olympic bronze that year. He is built for the 200M; that’s the one he’s gotta get this year. Getting the 100M gold would be incredible; but if he gets gold in 200M, clearly that is a BIG win.
@@khumokwezimashapa2245you could add he is also two time World Junior Champion. The only man to date to have won both U20 World 100m Title and the Men’s 100m World Title. Noah may talk but he is a big race performer that knows who to win when the lights are on
@@BDQ1975 He's really the only man to that? Wow!! I'm now wondering which woman has dons it but your statement kinda implies a woman has done this before
Christian Coleman will be ok he has to correct his mistake why is him and Abby Steiner still working with the college coach ,they're pro the need to move on and find a pro coach who can makes some changes on both of them style of running his top his stuff in his last 40m her hands swinging need to change and a pro coach will change that , Christian need to do a lot of hill training to keep up with his last 40m that's is what Noah killing them with his last 40m is be like he on race track 😊
