This is really an extraordinary find! So many similarities with Beethoven's Pastorale, however written before Beethoven's. Thanks a lot for sharing!!

This symphony was actually advertised in the publication of Beethoven’s Electoral Sonatas, WoO 47. So he may have gotten inspiration from this, if not the music, then maybe by the movement subtitles and idea of portraying nature in a symphony. Exciting stuff!

Sorry you think that Polymath7. Maybe I'll get plucked off by a solar flare, and my family can fight over what's left. RKBvi

There is a remerakable reseblance between this beautiful symphony and the sinfonia in G major by Frantisek Xaver Dusek. Does anybody know the dates of composition of the two symphonies? It would be interesting to know if Beethoven was the only composer to be inspired by Knecht, whose compositions certainly deserve wider recognition.

Justin Heinrich Knecht's work was 1784. Beethoven's 1808 after Knecht's was dead. Don't know Dusek's work's date but he was contemporary of Knecht. .

@@spiritualatheist1Beethoven had notes from 1800 on his symphony #6. Not that far off. Even though be didn't finish it until 1808. Beerhoven crossed paths with him around that time.

That space art is hilariously fanciful. Those terrestrial bodies (be they moons or planets) could not possibly exist in such close proximity -at least not for long.

I wonder if Herr Knecht conceived of this lovely piece as a ballet score because, in addition to the Pastorale Symphony, this music is also reminiscent of Beethoven's Ritterballet. That's a gorgeous work as as well although more fit for marching than dancing. It's "ballet" music that "Mad Cow" Mattis could march to, and even Trump when he's not drunk or on meds like he sounded during his Jerusalem speech. If Sessions wants to fight the opioid crisis, perhaps he should start by arresting his boss in the Oval Office.

Why don't you try to use this lovely music to control your poisonous rage and childish contempt. And since you brought it up, I'm thrilled to see the US Embassy in Jerusalem. So chew on that, jerk.
