Four quarterbacks were selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The Cincinnati Bengals selected Joe Burrow first overall, soon after the Los Angeles Chargers selected Justin Herbert sixth overall. Burrow a former Heisman trophy award winner is headed to the AFC Championship game vs. Kansas City Chiefs. Herbert missed the playoffs however finished top three in touchdown passes and passing yards. Marcellus Wiley and Emmanuel Acho answer who would you rather have: Joe Burrow or Justin Herbert.

Justin Herbert is way better, it’s not even close. Plus he has the most room to grow. No one mentioned that he has had new offensive coordinators both years in the NFL and 3 different ones in college. Also no one mentioned how much smarter he is. He won awards for academics in college and played 3 sports in high school and uses his skills from baseball and basketball in his play. Herbert will break the passing yards record in the next 5 years for sure with this 17 game season format and will win a super bowl within a couple years. Stayley will fix his defense this year with new peronsel through the draft and through free agency with our large cap space we will have this off season. Burrow is right up there and fits perfect with his team. So both great but Herbert is the best quarterback I’ve seen since Peyton Manning and could potentially be even better. Just watch the tape and u will see. Love the show guys. Keep it 100. Both Herbert and burrow will be future HOF if they keep their success and stay healthy.

Here's a fun fact... the raiders beat the chargers and kept them out the playoffs. And the Bengals beat na swept the raiders and sent them home... same with the titans. So please herb isn't in the conversation with joe. He good but he ain't joe.

it’s very obvious when someone hasn’t paid enough attention to herbert and the chargers, all the blame for losses falls on him when he could not have played more masterfully. their defense was pitiful but nobody remembers that.. when the chargers defense becomes good or even reliable, the league will be shaking

yep. hopefully the defense will be top 10 this year. See what he can do with a good defense. And, chargers lead the leaue in dropped passes. And, how many TD's were called back because of penalties? And, Parham dropping that TD against the chiefs because he hit his head on the grpund and suffered a concussion. If he dont drop that pass, chargers probanly beat the chiefs.

I think fifteen years from now, we will still be having this conversation. These two are on the trajectory to be all-time greats. Bengals/Chargers/Chiefs/Bills are going to control the AFC for years in my opinion.

Ravens? Titans? Colts? What are they going to be doing? Baltimore can clearly compete minus the injuries they were 8 and 3 before the injuries became too much. Tennessee can clearly compete with all of those teams and did over the course of the season, a couple of better coaching decisions and they're in the title game, not Cincinnati (and I'm a Bengals fan). The Colts are a QB away, and it doesnt even have to be a great QB, just middle of the pack.

I look at it this way: would either team trade their guy for the other? I’m sure that 95% of fans for each team would prefer their current QB, which shows you how well they fit on their teams. I love Herbert, but I absolutely respect how good Burrow has been. I just wish this comparison wasn’t so prominent, because I want to watch them both succeed without having to secretly hope for Burrow to stumble a little so that my guy can look better.

@@0624tre Herbert is a great talent there is no denying that. Rodgers is a great talent, Manning was a great talent there is no if and or buts the numbers speak for themselves. Herbert didnt have a good enough team to get into the playoffs Herbert played good enough he wasnt the reason they missed the post season. Burrow is better right now and has a better squad. Burrow is a little better not by much there are differences in both teams as to why one is in the playoffs and the other isnt. Tua the jury is still out on him. We'll see.

Herbert had 5 game winning drives this year, 3 last year as a rookie and i can think of at least 2 other games in his career where he threw a game winning pass or got them into field goal range to win the game and got let down be his team (last year Raiders, Saints) look it up and he throws the perfect pass just as much as Burrow. Herbert has no control over dropped passes or missed field games. People who say Herbert is all talent and not enough intangibles does not actual watch him in these pressure moments.

"a cannon." There's levels to throwing power. He has Brady type throwing power, which is satisfactory. But, his throws gets to its target with precision. But is it Josh Allen, Matt Stafford or even Bret Favre type throw velocity.. even ARod or Mahomes, no. Mahomes and Herbert have better velocity by about a level or two above Burrow. Burrow has an above average throw power.

Right and Herbert has way more than raw numbers. His receivers also led the NFL with 33 dropped passes. Even if you don't account for Herbert's bottom of the NFL defense if you give him 5 less dropped passes they chargers are in the playoffs this year.

Herbert is better. He had the 3rd worst defense in the league this year while the Bengals were around the middle. The only reason the Chargers went 9-8 was because of Herbert. Burrow threw for 0 TDs and 1 pick against the Titans, and his team was able to pick up the slack to help win the game. If Herbert does that, the Chargers get blown out. He has to play perfectly week in and week out bc his defense and special teams are so unreliable. With over 80 million in cap space and 11 draft picks next year, the Chargers will bolster their defense, win more games, and should be in the playoffs. Again, it’s a team sport and the Bengals have a better team overall. Offensively they’re pretty evenly matched, but the Bengals special teams and defense is better without question and they still only won one more game than the Chargers. Burrow is a beast but Justin Herbert is still the better quarterback IMO.

@@brandonasiamah8205 Herbert doesn’t get sacked 9 times that game bc he has a quicker release, has the arm talent to make crazy throws on the run/under pressure, and is better at moving around the pocket to avoid sacks. Herbert had the 31st ranked o line last year and didn’t get sacked nearly as much as Burrow. He was a top ranked QB under pressure by PFF last year and this year for a reason.

@@ethanweeter2732 Herbert manages to convert those 4th downs despite this team leading the league in drops (including TDs and 3rd/4th down conversions) and folks never realize this guy hasn't had consistency in Oregon or from the Chargers. First time Herbert will have the same HC from the season prior since like HS but he still balls out regardless. He's gonna get 40-50 TDs next season cuz he's not even playing his best football rn yet

But yeah I get what your saying in his second year with the same coaching staff at Oregon he led them to a 12-4 record and they won the Rose Bowl and he was the offensive MVP.

Herbert was always in 4th down againstthe Raiders. Burrow is very accurate and better at reading defenses. Herbert has a better arm yes and more athletic. Burrow plays the game how it is. He spoke on that after losing to the Jets. That guy is ahead of Herbert in QB IQ. He is Tom Brady or Montana like

As a Chargers fan I'd say it's difficult to knock either QB. Herbert had more trouble against cover 2 defenses than Burrow did last season, and Burrow is a bit more efficient and less prone to throw hero balls that get picked, but Herbert definitely has more raw talent that jumps off the screen. I'd be thrilled with either. It'll be fun to hopefully watch a great Bengals/Chargers rivalry develop over the next 15 years. The 2021 game was insane for sure. Herbert came away looking better but Burrow was throwing with a pretty grisly finger injury on his throwing hand and still almost managed a huge comeback.

@@pierrelesperance2442 leadership, confidence, the way his teammates respond to him and elevate their game. Herbo leads by example, which is fine, but unless you're constantly doing something spectacular it doesn't raise the morale of the team. Confidence is such a huge part of sports. I've seen juggernauts get steamrolled because they allowed the other team to believe they had a chance. A great leader makes sure all his teammates know that he has supreme confidence in them so in the biggest moments he can go to anybody and they will have the confidence to step up. Compare that to Rodgers who kept forcing it to Adams because that's the teammate he trusted the most even though others were wide open. Not saying Herbo can't develop into a better leader but the Chargers don't play with the same level of confidence as the Bengals and it doesn't help that their coach is a degen gambler

I love both of these quarterbacks, but let's not dismiss Joe's college accolades or the fact that he's taking the Bengals to the Superbowl in year two. It's clear he's got the champion aura because if you can take a dumpster fire team like Cincinatti to the Superbowl, then you're straight up special. As great as Herbert is now and is great as I think he can become, the guy doesn't seem to have that same aura. To me it's kind of like comparing Joe Montana and Dan Marino. Or Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. The latter in both cases looks better and seems more "talented" but the former has unexplainable intangibles.

They were like hovering at 20th all year across the board. They didnt reach top 15 at all..even with a top 5 run defense. They played their tails off on the last couple games and playoffs which made them look way better than they were. The WRs ill give you but you have to also account for 71 sacks from the worst Oline in the league.

Justin herbert beat Andrew luck's in touchdowns twice back to back. Justin herbert beat Dan Marino rookie season too. Justin herbert got rookie of the year and he getting pro bowl. Justin herbert 31 touchdowns his rookie season no other quarterback has ever had that many touchdowns ever. Our defends isn't as good the bagels..

Burrow has more leadership and intangibles. By far! Joe Montana wasn’t the greatest athlete. He didn’t have a great arm. But he had that “it” factor. Joe Burrow is the next Montana in my opinion. Burrow has that swag that his team will fight to the death for him. No question Herbert is extremely gifted but Burrow is a different dude. He’s a true leader! He’s a winner! Burrow > Herbert.

For all of the people saying that Burrow would have won ROY if he didnt get injured and that his stats were better here is the facts. Burrow played 10 games. After 10 games Justin Herbert had 3331 yards and 22 TDs. After 10 games Burrow had 2688 yards and 13 TDs. Justin was ahead of Burrow by a long shot in 2020 and deserved ROY.

The consistency of Joe B’s success since college, into the pros is on another level if we’re being honest. Jimmy G fell into the right system and great organization and was carried by that. Joe B led one of the greatest College championship in recent history and elevated the freaking Cincinnati Bengals into respectability in less than 2 seasons.

Yes the chiefs had a bottom tier defense in 2018 but they had Andy Reid to steer that ship who is more vital to that programs success than any player . Even when you have a bad defense they can still shine when needed when they have been in a scheme that they are comfortable with and the offense can operate at a high level with a scheme that has been established for years . Herbert doesn’t deserve excuses but there are factors that I see that may have kept him out of the playoffs . Now next year if he doesn’t make it to the dance then there is no excuse with his talent and weapons .

Justin Herbert's stats were a little beat better because he played one more game than Joe Burrow this year. Joe Burrow completing 70 percent of his passes and led the league in 30+yard td passes. Plus if Joe Burrow wins a Super Bowl this year then there's no contest between him and Herbert. Joe Burrow is a better QB then Herbert. Joe Burrow won a National Championship, had the best season in college football history, in his first full season now is in the AFC Championship game, and never gets rattled. Joe Burrow threw for the 3rd highest passing total in a game in NFL history with 525 then the following week put up 446 against the hottest team in football. Joe Burrow got sacked 9 times last week and still threw 350 yards and completed over 75 percent of his passes, Joe Burrow is doing so much in so short time. Mark my words Joe Burrow will be the Best Qb in the NFL within 2 years.

I get your point, but you're talking O Lines, not comparative skill. Let me put it like this, would you rather have Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady. That's essentially the comparison here. All that talent, Rodgers/Herbert, is hard to beat the intangibles, Brady/Burrow. I love both of the young QBs, they are amazing, but I would take Burrow.

You're right. Herbert is unquestionably better. Man has more talent in every aspect of the game while Burrow has a top 3 WR in the NFL who can take a pass from anywhere to the house for 6. Oh and arguably the best wr trio in the NFL. If we are being honest the Bengals were the 3rd or 4th best team in the AFC and the Bengals making the superbowl was pretty fluky. The Bills and Chiefs were way better. Chiefs choked big time. Herbert has a better left tackle and Center but thats it. The others are below average to terrible and chargers receivers lead the NFL in uncontested drops costing the Chargers Tds and key 1st downs and ultimately wins.

I hate when they compare QB’s like this. The QB is the most important position, there’s no doubt about that.. but the QB isn’t the only deciding factor in a game. Both Herbert and Burrow are extremely talented and promising players. Their future success will greatly depend on their respective franchise putting them in the best position to succeed. I doubt either team would want to trade either one of them for any other QB.

Joe burrow is great, but as a chargers fan all I can do is bleed Justin Herbert’s case, arrived at Oregon as a 4 stringer becomes first string as true freshmen and has a 4-8 record. Learns 3 different offensive schemes with 3 new head coaches by his senior year. Could have went into the draft early but instead he Leads the ducks to 10-2 record and caps it off with a rose bowl victory. Almost every sports pundit in the country is labeling Herbert as a potential bust, instead he gets offensive rookie of year. Then a unbelievable year 2 with a special never say die 4th quarter performance against the raiders. Perseverance is the morale of the story. Herbert’s had his back against the wall his entire journey so far, and this is only the beginning. Never been more excited in life⚡️⚡️⚡️

Justin Herbert seems a combination of Deshaun Watson/Aaron Rodgers. Joe Burrow seems a combination of Ben Roethlisberger/Tom Brady. I'll take Burrow unless he invokes more Roethlisberger than Brady, as he won't last NEARLY as long. In that case, I'll take Herbert because Herbert could still transcend to another level. He's so young, he has time (unlike Aaron Rodgers).
