Been listening to him for years on the daily, soo so dearly missed. I have to say this performance he was spot on money!! Let alone his last album is a true masterpiece.
man, i've watched this vid at least a couple dozen times, and this is just peak jt. he's in a good place, and he's putting all that nuanced voice in there. he's not breaking strings. i've seen so many performances where he just phones it in, or he's tweaked and spinning and slamming. if i could be half the musician jt was, i could die in a cloud of bliss.
The man's diction is perfect. You can hear every word in his unique and bad ass voice - what an incredible talent in storytelling, songwriting, and performing. Look at the worn out/hand oiled up section of the guitar from where he played. Would've been like Willie Nelson's Trigger someday... What a great performance with this little set.
I had a chance to see him semi-locally, before I was familiar, and I said, "Nah... I don't wanna see Steve Earle's kid. I'll hold out for the old man." I was younger then. And very stupid.

He chose drugs over his family. Selfish as hell. Now becuz of his drug use, his three year old daughter will not know her father....rest of her life. When u get married n have a child, it's time to put them first. Not the drugs. Time to lay the drugs down, he had a wife n kid. And he chose to continue with the drug shit, and look where it got him. Selfish. I thot he was smarter than this..... 🙄
