I'm sure that you'll come up with a stunning way to show off the fish. Personally, I prefer a dark background (or at least a natural-looking one) and a dark substrate. Black tends to make objects in the foreground look more interesting. But, to each his own.

E. J. Brinegar I’ve found from experience with discus a dark substrate / background causes the fish to get peppering ( dark dots ) this time I think I’ll try another route see if it’s better 👍🏻

I didn't realize that their surroundings would cause a color change. By all means, set it up in a way that will bring out their best coloration.

adam hotson it’s a old style t5 unit retrofitted with Arcadia led tubes

Discus Keeper is that easy to do as I would much feather have the new style led lights over the old t5 tubes

Discus Keeper oh so there isn’t no removing parts of the old wiring etc like I’ve seen on other post. So glad it’s just plug and play. Thank you for the advice.

adam hotson your very welcome only issue is the tubes are around 45 pounds per tube they are great though
