after owning this for 6 months it's still sounds better than pioneer systems, plus UI looks and working best. pioneer UI is slow and outdated. sound stage on this and i'm sure kenwoods so much deeper than pioneer
All of these radios are already made with Chinese parts thats why you cannot find anything in stock right now there was a huge fire at the major manufacturers warehouse in China 2020 was worse then you even know!
I been looking for a good double din android auto receiver. Im torn between this, The Alpine ilx f509 or f511, and the pioneer wc6600nex. In your professional opnion which do you prefer?
how do you change the display brightness on this thing? it only has 1 “dimmer” setting that does not dim the display enough! i wish i had known how bright this thing would get while driving before purchasing it
@@NathanElcoate yea me to but I couldn’t pass up on the flashiness of the jvc I haven’t ran jvc since high school 2000 been a pioneer guy until a week ago
@@NathanElcoate yea but the kenwood equivalent has a hideous volume knob in the middle of it. I actually wanted the kenwood to begin with then saw them side by side in person and the jvc has a wayyyy cleaner look. Just my opinion but they are literally the same unit other than the volume knob
Can you control the phone with the headunit throught screen mirroring? Is there a resource that provides a list of all headunits that can control phone through the headunit during screen mirroring.
@@tkangwei There is but you have to bypass your stereo with the aux plug and use the dac mini player instead. I use a fiio player but it's the lowest model. I'll be buying their higher end one soon (m15). They sound awesome
@@eacalways i have a dasaita for my lancer ... They are all preety much the same ... Dasaita released android 10 for it and im tempted to flash it but i had zero issues with it. Had it for 2 years now AMA
i have this radio in my sienna , and i did have chinese Android radio before . you guys have no idea how this compers to any chinese brand , i was clearly tired of annoying bugs until i got this JVC
@@kg1329 I'm seeing some good reviews on Dasaita but I'm still nervous about going for a Chinese brand but honestly those mainstream brands need some serious competition. They lack innovation for years. Their Ui designs are really dated even in those new models imo. I wish some phone manufacturers like Samsung etc got into this space. Pioneer and Co would need to step up
I didn't know this myself but apparently JVC and Kenwwod are the same company now the only real differences I can tell are different widgets on jvc no knob and 50 dollars cheaper they both have same eq and wireless features android auto/apple car play phone mirroring with only wireless for Android and they both have 5v outputs oh yeah and the JVC you can actually find in stock right now!
It’s nice and it has 1200w but the display is ridiculous if they made one with a smaller display that was not on a poping out than i would maybe get it
The fact that you can't have PEQ and GEQ simultaneously is the deal breaker for me. I was so close to pulling the trigger, but I want both - PEQ to tune the speakers, and GEQ for occasional tweaks when frickin' engineers can't mix their tunes right.
720p for that price is ridiculous For that price I expect better components (not to mention processing speeds) And it may just be a "head unit" but they are asking for "laptop/ ipad" money for it 🤷♂️
@@robbrobb325 Very true, though I'm mainly referring to the head unit price vs the quality of performance / resolution you get at that price. While a little snappier when compared to the last gen, its still slow compared to almost everything else in the electronic tablet/phone/laptop field while dealing with a fraction of the work load. It's kinda like when Apple put 720p screens on their phones. Yes it looked OK, but for what they were charging, it was still highway robbery. And that was with at least a snappier processor. In the 2021 US car stereo market 720p is considered "stunning" while they have capacitive screens on par with smart phones generations older. Not to mention processor speeds that leaves a little bit to be desired (when compared to comparable tech at that price point). Just saying that for the price........ It leaves a lot to be desired.
Say what you want about the price I bought mine right before the prices went crazy for $1100 and it's now $1499 so I'll actually get my money back selling mine that I just took out of my mustang gt .
Yup! You need these parts for the installation: Dash Kit www.qualitymobilevideo.com/99-8270hg.html Wiring Harness www.qualitymobilevideo.com/70-1765.html
Yes and still have the same problems in every version. They just cant seem to fix the annoying bugs and you have to buy new model instead of firmware upgrade (eonon anyway). Yes, I am using Daisata.
It is pricey! I'm thinking about purchasing any of the Chinese android head units but at the same time, I'm worried that it might have spyware and malware and that could hack my google, amazon music accounts.
All of the Androids have software deficiencies, bugs and quirks, be prepared. These brand name high-end models don't have all the features but have better firmware support.
I’m having the same problem I own an iPhone and I cannot get my phone to mirror the image I have tried everything including HDMI and went through all settings on phone and radio unit and still cannot get it to work, rip off
For wired Android or iPhone mirror, you must download the JVC OA mirroring app from the Google Play store. The app does not open when you click on it because it’s not designed to. You must also go into headunit settings, select device and change the mode from Android Auto to Mirroring.
Just bought this, not impressed at all so far. The sound isn't all that, my subwoofers even sound weakER. It has 1, yep just one subwoofer gain. It goes to like -15 or +5 which makes no sense at all!
This headunit is mediocre at best and the post sales support is non existent. JVC basically put a half baked product out for $1200 and has no intention of fixing any bugs or making the HDMI or remote available. Never again!
Why do you say that? I just purchased this unit along with a set of 2 way Focal Flax components. Haven’t got around to installing everything until I get the Flax 3 way components for the front stage but was really looking forward to this unit being everything I hoped. Any input would be greatly appreciated
Yo don't believe the hype it's the same radio as kenwood 1057 but 50 bucks cheaper minus the knob I honestly think people act like they know when...... I am about to purchase this unit and have it installed with my FULL alpine r system I will give feedback
@@petejimenez425 I'd honestly have gone with a different brand in hindsight. I went with the JVC because I'm personally not a fan of knobs (I use steering wheel and voice) and thought the JVC design is cleaner. I was upgrading from a Kenwood Excelon and figured they'd be comparable. I was wrong. Here's what I don't like about the JVC - - The wireless Android auto connection is flat out unreliable. Constantly disconnects. - The headunit itself reboots while in use far too often - at least once a day. - The widget's are a joke compared to the Kenwood unit. The split widget is so limited, it's almost useless. e.g No Carplay or Android Auto access on the top widget combination with the A/C controls. - The dual phone connection cannot be two of the same phone. EX: It can be a Samsung and iPhone, but not two S21 Ultras. So if you're using two of the same type of devices, even with different device names - they won't both stay connected for incoming calls. But am S21 Ultra and an iPhone 12 Pro will. - I see display lag when switching apps or using Google maps in satellite view. The only pro I can say there is, is with the screen quality on static objects. And that's not even exclusive to the JVC unit.
@@awfike24 wow thanks for your review! Seriously I was ready to pull the trigger on this unit but after reading your experience with the JVC unit I think I will go with the Kenwood the thing that sucks is it will be a wait while the JVC is available now but is the sound quality the same I just finished putting a new alpine R full system in my car using JL's fix86 to keep my factory unit but that was a mistake due to lots of background noise even when the radio is off quite disappointing btw it was all PROFESSIONALY installed
