This portable size boombox is a well built, nice design and sounds good. At the first test, the radio was okay but the cassette deck had a problem. While FF and REW were in working order, in the PLAY mode take-up reel did not spin.
It was because a small tire that spins take-up reel was broken off. I did not have a proper size of the replacement tire, I used o-ring and it worked like a charm.
The head was demagnetized, and the tape speed was adjusted. However, when I did the sound test, suddenly the tape speed became unstable due to unknown issue. Later I found out there was a broken drive tire inside of the mechanism.
The broken handle mount was reattached with 2 kinds of a strong bond and was sanded down to the just fit size.
Took me a total of over 14 hours work, it was fun adventure for me.
