Before arriving to the hotel, I messaged the hotel to notify them that it was my mother’s birthday and to enquire about how much it would cost for an additional guest to visit the executive lounge. (As an Ambassador, I can bring 1 additional guest free, but there were 3 of us and so would normally have to pay for the extra person).
The hotel very kindly offered complimentary access as it was my mother’s birthday and also sent up some chai tea, chocolates and fruit - what my mum loves!
Disappointingly we were not upgraded to a suite. I had booked a standard deluxe room with 2 queen beds. We were upgraded to the same room but with a view of the French Quarters.
The room is about 350 Sqft and comes with very soft, well-padded slippers and a 50” flat screen TV (which has premium channels including RU-vid and NETFLIX!)
The Executive Lounge was very nice! It is bright, airy and had high ceilings! It served Breakfast everyday although, during the weekdays it finishes very early! Watch the video for full details. The breakfast spread is decent and the staff were very nice. One staff lady was so sweet, she hugged us when we left and gave us a goody bag!
After breakfast the lounge puts out snacks until 10pm. These were crisps (chips), chocolate raisins, M&Ms, cereal bars, a biscuit type of thing and the usual drinks (tea/coffee/soft drinks/water).
If you are a non-elite member, you can have breakfast at their onsite restaurant called Fogo De Chao. This is a Brazilian steakhouse and they have many different menus including, breakfast, happy hour, lunch, dinner and so on. Here is the link (scroll down): fogodechao.com/location/new-o... The lounge is set over 2 floors and on the upper level, you get a nice view of the lower level but my favourite was… it had a pool table! It also had a table football, books, other games and TVs! It also had more relaxing seating!
Another excellent feature of this hotel is… On Thursdays and Fridays, around 14:30 (2.30pm) the hotel serves complimentary glasses of champagne in the lobby area. There is no set end time. They stop when the champagne ends! The champagne was good quality! Much better than what we had at the Ritz Carlton South Beach Miami (Yuck!). One of the days, there were not too many people about and so they even offered us a whole bottle to take to our room!
The swimming pool is nice and the outdoor space in general. There is NO SPA at this hotel but there is a 24 hour fitness centre/gym. The gym is good for cardio but a little limited on the weights/resistance.
There is also a bar onsite which gets quite busy during the evenings and so had a nice atmosphere! They too serve food and the menu is the same menu as in-room dining.
The hotel is also in a great location! If you are arriving by car and have quite a lot of luggage, then make sure you arrive at the Common Street entrance. The entrance on Canal Street requires a key card and there are no bell men or door men to assist, and more importantly, there is nowhere to park!
Overall, if I was in New Orleans again, this would be my go to hotel!
