Tiffany uploaded a snapchat with a Japanese rising sun flag geotag on Korean National Liberation Day. Although she deleted the snapchat within minutes and apologized, netizen are sending her death/rape threats and even telling her she is the reason her mom is dead. IMO what Tiffany did was a really dumb mistake, she had no ill intentions but people are portraying her as some traitor to Korea...

You can't be so ignorant, everyone that has been following Kpop for a long time knows that SM trained their trainee well. Eg. S.E.S, BoA, Shinhwa, TVXQ, Suju, SNSD, Exo, Fx, Shinee, Red velvet and NCT. Sure BTS can sing, but they aren't the best tho

There wasn't a rising sun flag emoji. Tiffany used the Japan flag as an emoji and her fans told her to take it off because of National Liberation Day. Then Tiffany went on snapchat and used a filter that wrote 'Tokyo' with the last 'o' made to look like the rising sun flag. I don't think Tiffany knew that the 'o' was the rising sun, but she noticed minutes later and deleted the snapchat.

Snapchat said they were going to get rid of the rising sun filter because of this

"her fans told her to take it off..." can u let me know, where and how fans could tell her that? were fans able to send her private messages? or did they manage to call her personally to tell her that? i would like to clarify that it was netizens/antis who first claimed that 'fans told her to remove' in an attempt to make it seem like Tiffany ignored the warnings and went on to snapchat to post it on purpose. because we know she didn't. it was a careless mistake, totally unintentional. and we also don't know for sure if fans really left her those messages on her instagram; its very likely she didn't even see the messages. comments on IG go by so fast due to spammings, how can anyone expect her to really read all of them?

the rising sun flag is the military flag for japan and it is still the symbol for them today which is why in japan as a snapchat filter, isnt a big deal (though should still be removed since it references to lots of violent history). It's offensive in Korea because of japan's colonial rule over them and the horrible treatment they were subjected to. Obviously those who were under japanese imperial rule (phillipines, korea, indonesia, etc) are very much triggered by the flag and it is very understandably likened to the nazi flag. Tiffany should 100% be blamed for misusing this as japans imperialism over korea was one of the biggest marks in their history and she used it on the day korea finally liberated themselves from japan ( & she definitely knew what day it was, its like not knowing 4th of july is independence day). also she CHOSE to use the filter and that's her own decision. if you wear a shirt with the n word on it, walk the streets, and get called out on it, would you say it wasn't your fault since you didn't design the shirt?
