I love the KITTstang. KITTPrime (the original) I'm always gonna have a soft-spot for. But SG was trying to be it's own thing with the car and not be a direct-copy of the original. And at that time, the GT500KR was the in-thing. As much as some don't want to hear this, not everyone would want an 80's Trans Am as KITT in 2008. Yes. The KITTstang had an old-school/new-school look to it, but that's what a lot of people liked in their Mustangs with echoes to the 60s.
the Camaro was discontinued at this time and GM din't want to be involved at all . Corvette was the first choice . The mustang being the only muscle car available at that time , it make perfect sense
Very cool! I was a little upset to find out his “GT500” was just a GT when he popped the hood. Lol just tell the full story! It’s a KITT themed GT500 clone and we’re working on supercharging the GT engine so we can stop putting around with 300hp. ITS STILL COOL AS SHIT! 😂
the original in the show is exactly like that , GT and V6 with GT500KR body style mostly because the true GT500KR is a collector expensive car and actor only could drive automatic
Growing up as a kid with the original series in the 80s, it’s almost impossible to beat. Although I kind of like the slick lines of the exterior of the Ford Mustang, the lack of creativity with the interior Dash in the 2008 show we’re just a basic red circle instead of a really cool fancy - as well as the transforming CGI in a 2008 series really ruined that reboot for most of us. Nothing can compare with the original series in the 80s where they did all their stunts without computer graphics and Reel FX.
Oh my God!!! I’m looking for an 2008 or 2009 Mustang GT500 Supersnake because I’ve wanted to duplicate the GT500 KITT to drive as my personal car. I’ve been in love with this car ever since I’ve seen the TV show in 2008... I think Ford changed the body style too much in 2010 and beyond that. I had an 2006 two toned base model pony car that was modified to look like an GT500. It was yellow, gold and black... Looked like the Pittsburgh Steelers colors.... I was in an 4 car accident two weeks before I would of had it a whole year in 2012 and it was totaled... I haven’t had one since... So I really want to do the next one I get like the the 2008 GT500 Supersnake and get it two toned painted again like the one I had.... That would be sick!!!
GOODLUCK TRYING TO FIND THOSE RIMS.I HAVE THE SAME SUPER SNAKE CLOWN RIMS ON MY 08 GT500.BUT THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN GET THE REAL SUPER SNAKE RIMS IS YOU HAVE TO BUY A REAL SUPER SNAKE.I am lucky to have a 07 427 edition convertible super.Car number 53 SS and number 116 out of 427 car's and my 900hp 2010 grabber blue super snake CSM NUMBER 29.For starting life as a v6 you did a nice job.I love to take the owner of this car and drop him in my super snakes.Believe me there UNBELIEVABLE FAST.
like today cars ,Tesla feature are all centralized the futur is less the more . Being said this is the Knight 3000 not 2000 and even if you don't like it the car is new compared to the 82 trans am
The seventies and eighties were the dark days of the Mustang and maybe the early nineties. The mid to late 90s gave us the Cobras and Cobras R's plus the super stallion prototype and those cars were pretty decent
Any Knight Rider reboot is doomed. They were supposed to bring it back with Knight Rider 2000 and after the tv based movie, the series never aired. The new Knoght Rider series with the Mustang was all over the place. I really liked it and was really pissed when it was canceled. It seems they might as well leave it alone at this point. But I liked the 2000 movie and the newer series. Just such a disappointment things never worked out. On another note, I would LOVE to see this car in person.
Long ago (PS2) there was a Mideay game called SpyHunter 2 and before (or after) that game, their was a Knight Rider game but I'm not sure how it played or how successful it was but to whoever game company out now, they Definitely NEED to make a Driving/Action Shooter Car game Knight Rider and do the SpyHunter style but to do it WAY Better.
Mustangs are nice, but I'm a Trans Am guy. The 80s were not a good time for muscle/pony cars, including the 3rd generation Trans Am. It was basically neutered performance-wise even though it was intended to be much more powerful. Blame geopolitics, fossil fuels and the US government 🤷♂️.
I think you are thinking of the late 70's to early 80's camaros and trans ams. The generation after that was less bad. And very good looking imo. The only kitt for me
I'm not sure they were clear on the powertrain of this KR. The 08 and 09 KR came stock from the factory with a Whipple supercharger, rated at 540 HP. So, why didn't this car have one?
The cars in the show were actually normal Mustangs with GT500KR interior und exterior parts that’s why. The GT500KR has no automatic version. All Shelbys (s-197 GT500/GT500KR) are manuals.
I think i am the only one that wants both. I want the trans am kitt and the mustang kitt. Both are awesome looking kitts! Now the red dodge kitt from the 1991 movie was ugly!
They couldn't get the Trans am, obviously 'cause of GM closing Pontiac. So the mustang was a good idea, also I like that it was a continuations, not a reboot, stating this is K.I.T.T 3000 nothing to do with the 2000, only shares the name, same with the Michael from the series.
Sponsorship. Money is everything especially in 2008 with the market tanking as it did after the finance scandal in housing. The original Knight Rider 1982 to 1985 was built upon cars which were wrecked in a train crash. That's why only five exist. The other cars had to legally be demolished after the studio was done with same. Some appeared in other shows including The Fall Guy.
well it may look super impressive but without a talking car with all the gadgets as shown on TV series this looks quite dead to me i love the new KITT in the 2008 TV series the cast and the tricks the new KITT can perform

I wish someone would have told the interviewer that a Pontiac Trans Am is a Firebird! The exact model name was: Pontiac Firebird Trans AM and if it was the base version Pontiac Firebird to intermediate version Pontiac Firebird SE(Special Edition). As for adding a turbo charger: WHY????? It is pointless to have cars with increasingly astronomical Horsepower Levels that is ultimate useless..500 HP is more than enough for the Replica Kitt.
Was the original car a firebird or a trans am. A lot of people say it was a trans am. But they are way two different cars. I always heard it was a firebird. And I thought it said formula on it. Maybe in wrong. Just wondered. I now he said it was a trans am but I was just wondering if anyone else thought it was a firebird. Not every car has steering wheel airbag.
@@Pierre578 but the firebird and the trans am are deferent. They have deferent motors and deferent ground effects. The trans am has the bigger motor in it while the firebird either had the small v8 or a v6. No their deferent models like the Camaro. Theirs one with a smaller engine which is the RS then you have the z28 which had the larger 350 motor. Two diferwnt models. That's why I was asking if it was a firebird or a trans am. The trans am has the bigger motor in it. Most firebirds only have a v6 in them.
@@fritsfelix8423 lol. No, all trans am's are not firebirds. Lol. Theirs a formula, a firehawk, a GTA, a firebird and a couple more. I now that the firebird actiually has nicer ground effects then the regular trans am but they didn't come with the big engine.
The trans am is a firebird with trans am trim on and no matter if it was a firebird or trans am trim it came with 3 choices of engines there was a v6 then either the 5.0 305 cubic inch v8 or the 5.7 350 cubic inch v8. Back then all firebird and trans am models had t-tops except the models with the 5.7 v8 because GM said the frames would twist from the 5.7 and the t-tops so the only way to have a 5.7 v8 with t-tops was to have the tops added aftermarket.

Not real because I know and why, i own the only real Shelby GT500KR Prototype used in the production of the remake of Knightrider! 5 were 08 Mustang Gts dressed up to look like a Shelby GT500 but were automatics mine the only real Shelby was used as their Beauty Car. It's in the Shelby registry and I own it. I purchased it from the company who built all 6 CDC in MI.
Show would probably have run longer were it not for the "camo" feature... my suspension of belief ended when KITT turned into a truck and I realized the show was a FORD commercial. Also... I have a 08 Bullitt so, no hate here.... just disappointment.
Why don't they just use an 2021 FIREBIRD THEY DO EXSIST ! GM JUST DOESN'T WANT TO RELEASE THEM YET BECAUSE THEY WOULD KNOCKOUT THE CAMERO ! TO BE EXACT I HAVE A PICTURE OF ONE AND IT WOULD BE PURFECT FOR THE NEW K. I. T. T !
