I bought a 1986 Mercedes 280 GE a while back. It runs but not as well as it probably should. Trying to get to terms with what could be the issue(s) I've come to being introduced to a ton of Bosch K-jet, WUR and other new to me parts. My car cold starts on -20 C days in the blink of an eye, but it needs a good few turns of the engine before starting when warm, no matter of the outside conditions. This I think can be related to the WUR. Would you say that swspping the filter out could be a good first point of attack? In gereral the car is running quite rich, seen on the snow that there is a lot of black residue coming out of the exhaust and smells rich running. The car is neither really going up to proper working temp so I will change the thermostat. Got a bit of tuning to do but one day it'll run smooty like butter 😅
Nice Cars, I'd say yes to the WUR filter, but the first port of call would be fuel pressure checks. Thermostat and temperature sensors can also affect running. Running rich could be as simple as setting the CO which could also be your hot start issuea
Good evening, have just purchase the WUR repair kit you recommend and you mentioned you sell these filters. I don't think these come in the repair kit and cannot see a link on how to buy them from you. It's a Mercedes with end code 056, buy would think these would be the same ? Thank you Vincent
Great stuff Martin. I believe this is the issue I am experiencing when engine is warm. When the 16v motor is cold it starts on the button however once it’s warm even slightly it struggles to start but will after a few cranks. You mentioned you’re selling the bolts with the filter , how do I purchase one of these from you?. Keep up the great work. Jim
This has caused me a bit of confusion recently. My Scirocco 16v (PL code) is KE (no WUR) and so i was under the impression that 16v "meant" KE. Much of the recent content here (16v build series) threw me off a bit to see one. Actually caused me to look at my engine wondering were the heck my WU had gone to.
@mcfly6667 ah ok yes 16v was predominantly k-jetronic until the PL code came out around the same time as the corrado 2.0 16v, from then on 16v was KE or Motronic
My 1988 TVR S1 has K Jetronic. The issue I have is a very high cold idle speed of 1500rpm (in a TVR, thats noisy !!!). The hot idle tends to flutter on the point of stalling. I just watched you WUR video and was not aware of the filter. I would like to purchase from you anyway but might this solve my issue ?
I have a cold start issue. I cleaned out the WUR and replaced the o-ring as the old one was abit flat from the pressure plate inside. still won't start on cold but if I add fuel down the throttle body it will start first time and run like a dream...could it still be a faulty WUR.
@@GreyGooseRestorations No I get no spray of fuel on the CSV. I uninstalled it and did a 12v test on the CSV and was clicking. Whats the best way to get the filter out?
@john2ndname ok you may have and issue with the electrical side of the CSV on the car, on cranking you should have voltage at the black wire on the CSV plug, if yes then check the continuity of the green wire down to the thermotime switch
Therno switch is 35 oms beep, yellow and black/red 2 conectors on switch goes to CSV 13 oms beep CSV 10 oms if all volts are correct here maybe low fuel pressure.
