I don't think there was any malice in their comment. I do however, firmly agree with you. It's not about what you want, that doesn't matter. I am my own self. However, many countries are starting to learn this. Cut them some slack. The Beauty standards, and just culture in general in Korea and ASIA are totally different in the US and Western world. I'm glad they reacted to this, opening their minds and views for sure. This song arguably her best in my opinion. :D

They were just stating that she was prettier with long hair. There was no harm in their comment, they were just stating an opinion, it's just like saying wow her jacket looks nice or I don't like those shoes it's just an opinion. Now if they said she should keep her hair long that's different.

Women in other countries undoubtedly have more struggles than US women have. She’s speaking about the societal beauty standards and what a “lady” should be in America.

What are they fighting for? Better pay? (The wage gap doesn’t exist) Equality of opportunity ( entry into jobs and universities and swung in women’s favour due to certain diversity quotas ) Equality of outcome ( that means that your judging people on race, gender and sexuality which is what your meant to be fighting against)

This song is about defying gender stereotypes, how society wants things from her, and demand things from her that they want from all girls, and how she is telling them to basically fuck off. In society, girls are expected to smile more than men no mater what they are going through, thus "I won't smile, but I'll show you my teeth". She wears a sexual outfit to represent how women are often expected to do what their male significant other wants in (and out of) bed so she says that "I won't be caught dead, letting a man tell me what I should do in my bed". Girls are expected to be sweet, outgoing, charming, and we are heavily looked down upon by society if we're not, girls are also expected to be weak, pretty, feminine, and this song is saying that she's not, and that makes her a nightmare in the eyes of others but she is all the more stronger because of this. This is why she says "I'm tired and angry, but somebody should be." She's tired of being expected to act a certain way just because she is a girl and it makes her angry. So when you called her charming, and said that she shouldn't cut her hair because she is prettier with it long, they were missing the whole point of the song. She won't keep her hair long so that men like it, she won't be weak or submissive, and she won't be told what to do in sex. She will only be herself even though people won't like her for it and will call her a nightmare for it.

Memes will Never die woman are oppressed everywhere and it would be ignorant to ignore it just because it’s not as bad as other places. It’s a problem that needs to be fixed. I said in my comment that other countries are also struggling with this. I focused on America because Halsey is American and was talking about problems in this country, that doesn’t mean I don’t care about the others. I also didn’t want to over load them with information since I know they sometimes struggle with understanding English. I care about all woman, thanks.
