Idolising Irene for going on stage when she’s close to fainting is depressing, the clips of her performing are genuinely hard to watch. It’s so sad that the fans feelings are being prioritised over Irene’s health. If fans were upset at her for not performing shame on them, this type pressure and guilt should never be put on an idol. Irene could’ve genuinely gotten seriously hurt.

I watched the whole 20 mins performance and she only had her few Moments like 3 mins, and far apart, yes she was clearly sick but not the the point of not performing , Irene is not a baby, SM already gad make the statement if she wanted to perform was her choice, i'm sure SM didnt force her

Honestly, this is the reason a lot of idols regress when it comes to singing and performing. They never focus on their health and push themselves to the furthest extreme.

Yes and I do not blame people who don't take Kpop seriously because a lot Kpop fans regard masochism/sadism as so called "professionalism".
@Nameless_mixes
@Nameless_mixes Год назад
And on today’s episode of KPop stans throwing around terms they don’t know the definition of… There’s being a professional and then there’s trying to make people happy. They’re not the same. As sweet as it was for Irene to seemingly not want to disappoint fans, she ultimately made us all worry even more. With a full album coming out soon, she seriously needs to rest up as much as possible because an album usually means a tour soon after. And we’ve seen how exhausting those can be 🙁

I called out Stray Kids for being overworked a while back with how much scheduling they were doing, and Stays said I was out of line because Chan said something along the lines of "it's my choice to keep working". I tried to tell them it was still very unhealthy to continue to push yourself without knowing your own limits, thankfully this hasn't resulted in any serious issues for Chan. Sometimes fans need to realize, these idols don't know what's best for them at times when regarding work. Just because I write down an answer for a test with confidence, doesn't mean it was the correct answer.
@Nameless_mixes
@Nameless_mixes Год назад
@@TaejiuI swear, whenever anyone needs an example of unhealthy fandom behavior, Stays have us covered. Exactly. And I will say it time and time again, SKZ haven’t had a break since debut. They’re constantly touring. And when they’re not touring, they’re releasing music or recording episodes of SKZ Code or any of their other variety content. And I swear, the “We must believe Bang Chan because he’s bestest leader uwu” mentality has got to go. Last I checked, Chan is an idol and a producer; not a doctor. There are so many subtle signs of being overworked that may not manifested into fully realized symptoms until it’s too late. I’ve had the same issue with BTS saying that they keep putting out music and doing a million things every year because it adds up and it’s taxing on the mind and body. We as a community need to have a long and hard discussion as to why so many things like minors working full time and idols in general working overtime is normalized. If this were ANY other field, there’d be public outcry for better working conditions, less hours, child labor laws, etc. But fans enable this by supporting each and every comeback, tour, and project (signaling to companies and groups that they want more). As much as I dislike how YGE’s release schedule is so staggered and barebones, at least it’s better than what JYPE put Twice (and now Stray Kids) through as well as HYBE with BTS (and potentially NewJeans) and SME with NCT (mainly Mark since he’s in like forty different groups). What idols go through is not normal And far from healthy, especially given how many are underweight. But that’s a topic for another day.) Oops… Look at me rambling on lol Anyways, hope you’re doing good, my friend! Be sure to drink plenty of water (that goes for anyone else reading this lol) ❤️

@@Taejiu I agree with that, but when the idols are the ones that don't want to rest or to not listen there is not much we can do about it. The company has told many times that they wanted skz to rest and they themself refused. Many people are saying to stop asking because at this point it is doing more harm then good
@Nameless_mixes
@Nameless_mixes Год назад
@@ruoqifangWhile I totally agree that it’s much harder to stop a group from working if they don’t want to, it’s not impossible. Look at groups like Blackpink, CLC, F(x), etc. if a companies decides to withdraw support from a group (even if it’s temporarily), group activities can potentially come to a halt. You won’t have the resources of your team to schedule time in the studio, gather producers to work on the tracks, organize film crews and editors together to make music videos, reach out to venues to schedule tour dates, make plans for what type of variety content to film, set up music show appearances, etc. While Stray Kids being a mainly self produced group grants them a lot of artistic freedom, there’s still a lot of work that JYPE handles. If the company said that they’re taking away those other things, SKZ can still make music and practice. But their schedules wouldn’t be as packed and would likely not require as much traveling (especially not for work related purposes). So, it’s possible. But when SKZ’s is making the most money for the company, I don’t think JYPE’s going to reduce that revenue anytime soon. So, they enable SKZ to work themselves into the ground.

I just thought of something. There are multiple forms of ab*se. We’re used to seeing it in the form of overworking idols. But one that isn’t discussed as often is neglect. Look as HyunA pushing herself to the point of fainting (even though she’s aware of having a medical condition that hinders her stamina). The staff at PNation enabled her to keep going and film mv scene for extensive hours (in spite of prior knowledge that it could be detrimental to her health). A lot of people are talking about SME being in the wrong if they forced Irene to go on stage. But they’re equally at fault if they let her go by her own decision. From the second that it was stated that she would no longer be attending so that she can rest, all staff should have been instructed to see to it that she wasn’t exerted herself. Allowing her to go on and perform was negligent and the company still remains to be guilty of not ensuring the health and safety of their idol.

Well Irene is a trooper, powering through adversity. I agree that it isn't professionalism beyond "the show must go on," and SM has been earning some seriously well-deserved Reveluv rage. Red Velvet should be at the point of their career that they don't have to deal with this kind of garbage, not that any idols should, but you expect the largest sacrificing to be before a group is monstrously famous.

The thing that always gets me with situations like this besides the fact that fans will be like this was so professionalism they wanted to give an amazing performance and a full show regardless of how they were feeling. Is did the idol really want to do that? Like the company isn't going to come out and be like no we told them they had to perform and they had to go on that stage like they get like a half an hour an hour or so to R&s liquor didn't have your rehearsals but they had to perform. Like we are aware of the fact that SM Entertainment along with all their entertainment companies are well known for having made their Idols perform even when they were injured or sick. Like it's one of the reasons why Krystal of FX was constantly fainting and passing out on stage. It's one of the reasons why I asked so is no longer a 12-member boy grew because several of the members sat there and sued the company from for treatment and two of them admitted to the fact that they were injured and the company stool made them sit there and perform. Only allowing them to rest after the fans had found out about the injuries and how bad they were (Tao & Lay) not to mention both of them talked about the fact that because they didn't get adequate rest that it did mess with their physical performance in general. But nowadays companies can't just do that or say that so instead I wouldn't really be surprised if it's more of an underhand tactics like you're going to go out there and going to perform over to tell everyone how much you really wanted to do this so you did this on your own accord. especially with a company as big as SM Entertainment who are well-known even to this day for blacklisting idols and artists who leave their company even if it's technically on good terms like you're not going to want to sit there if you do decide you want to continue in the entertainment industry even after you leave the company. Plus it feel like it wouldn't make any sense with her and all the girls honestly be in the industry as long as they have been and knowing how taxing it is before you get ready for a comeback and the fact that ask them did and also fact that they're going to finally end up giving us another red velvet come back this time with a full-length album like there's no way that this would have even remotely seemed like a good idea to do knowing that s&m is notorious for dropping albums and then do the concert's if not world tour.

According to this video... I completely agree with your points on fans calling things like these professionals when the idols are clearly struggling. But i have to clarify about jennie on that melborne born pink concert. She was having food poisoning and had been vomiting a lot. She did not appear on the soundcheck of that day, but i guess tried to appear for the concert until she couldn't bear it and left the stage after performing 3 songs. Jennie had even apologized becoz she couldn't be there after. If ppl can compare irenes situation and call her professional coz she was able to make it through whilst being sick and struggling while performing but criticise jennie calling her unprofessional for leaving instead of maybe vomiting or fainting on stage, then its complete hypocrisy. If ppl can sympathize irenes situation of going through on the stage whilst clearly about to faint but throw hate on jennie for leaving the stage for not being able to hold on...none of yall have learned the lesson mentioned in this video.

This is not professionalism I agree but it's most probably an act of conviction. as an announcement was made irene will sit out most probably she certainly thought beforehand she will miss it(also she fainted in practice as speculated by a guard present there) but you know she went to Jakarta her fans were there she was in there sometime it's too much of emotional connect to fans you have to go out there to show yourselves to your fans who anticipated you so much,rv don't travel much so maybe she didn't knew when she would return back so yeah maybe not regretting afterwards played a part. I respect Irene so much she's so much more mature than me and I feel no one has that pull on her to force her,it was most probably her personal call,a call of grt willpower and conviction god I couldn't bear seeing her in fmr but maybe praising her is much but we certainly can respect her decision and not dumb her down which many people on twt did,she will be always the strongest lady for me in kpop.

Something I dont like about this discourse and I've seen quite often is how some people is taking Irene's accountability from her own decisions, I dont know if you guys know a bit about her personality but as a reveluv of almost 10 years its very hard for me to imagine her being guilt tripped by a staff member into performing (specially when it was already announced she wasn't), so she probably did it by her own will. And I'm in no way saying she made the right choice, but let people have their mistakes, she probably was feeling better cause she did look tired the first performance but it look nothing more like having a harder time to catch her breath. So she probably thought "look im fine, i just wont push myself too much" and then while performing the second time noticed she in fact wasn't fine. But this the main point imo is that she needs to learn her own limits, she's s grown woman but we all make mistakes. We dont know why she's sick, we dont know how she felt but we do know she made the decision and we should respect that. Like ok, you made your choice, it wasnt the right one, I thank you for you efforts but please learn from this and rest well.

I'm sorry...am i the only one who thought Irene looked fine?? I mean she doesn't look 100% normal but definitely healthy enough to perform. The whole performance she wasn't skipping any moves or half passing, she just looked a little off balance at that bridge part but apart from that she did all the moves and was smiling throughout her lines, i feel like both people are exaggerating, the people praising her for "professionalism" and people thinking she almost died in that performance 💀💀 like you said, she's been in the industry for 9 years, I'm pretty sure she's mature and experienced enough for her to not be guilt tripped by anyone lol. If i watched this performance without knowing about what y'all said i wouldn't have noticed a single thing

Agree about Irene, strongly disagree about Jennie. I do think the difference in response comes down to it being fan service rather than professionalism. Irene is praised because whether it was a personal choice or under duress (as some may believe 🙄😒), she made it a point to see her fans even when she was unwell. Jennie is admonished because she left the stage and her fans. Simple and both very silly reactions. However, I do not agree to your point about Jennie being professional for leaving the stage. The competence or skill expected of her is consistency, managing mishaps discreetly. That is a part of their training and something they have dealt with well in the past, this is not the first time Jennie had to deal with stage mishaps. The expectation is that she will work with her VERY large team of sound engineers, physiotherapists, stylists and managers to ensure that her mic is okay, her general health is okay over the tour, her outfits are comfortable and to change the choreo/ sit and perform/ sit out the performance if she is unwell, BEFORE she gets on stage. I don't know if Jennie's team changed personnel but they don't move in sync and it shows. Both not examples of professionalism. I agree with you, I think this word is heavily misused in Kpop.
