k rend external render Vs Smooth painted render 

Just watched K rend video , they recommend washing ‘ every year ‘ video shows 2 guys , one with commercial power wash and second guy with a yard brush ! Why would anyone want to have to do that every year ! I definitely will be sticking to traditional render .

Weber supply a water seal after you've finished so algae, dirt etc wont penetrate. We use the acrylic system which is more like a paint that you spread on. A lot easier to maintain and clean

Any chance you know how to remove thinners based paint over spray from this stuff?

K-rend is Menna have a sealer applied after. But 90% of spreads Don't bother. Parex sealer/Paraguard for example. That's STOPS ALL discoloration/Staining completely. If these jobs where done properly to begin with. This would never happen. I prefer Sand and Cement myself. But have never had a problem with k-rend myself. Because I didn't cut corners by skimping on materials and not completing the job. To how it should be 👍

Good info , I have been recommended K rend for my newly built garage / workshop but having second thoughts now , it seems traditional render with an added waterproofer then slandtex would be better than this ‘ breathable ‘ K rend . To me something that is breathable can’t be fully water and stain resistant.

You can get a sealer to apply when the k render is totally dried out in a few weeks. Makes it more water resistant and easier to clean.

In Germany this system has been around for donkey years and the houses look wonderful!

It's hilarious how plasterers will try and sell you on "maintenance free" finish. When of course it obviously is not,its an extremely porous substrate once they are done with it. Water staining and alike. I recommend to customers with this grade texture,to finish with a satin top coat,elastomeric,preferably. For a little easier washability

Is this just sand & cement painted? As looks like it due to it being rough as toast. I thought K Rend was the 1 to have as it's coloured and waterproof.

Dont know how long this vid has been on here ,either you or the people that done the render have not carried out the job properly, the job itself looks good , I can bet that KPRO hasn't been used , it should be used at the end of the job and it stops all alge,dirt,moss and makes cleaning down very easy, I have been using krend for 12+ years and would not do a job without it, once again KPRO should have been used.

K rend sell a product called algae clean which sprays on and walk away. This cleans any algae which can be green, red or black in colour. But also k rend do a product called k-pro which can go on to stop algae build up and keep it clean, this is used in certain areas of the country but of course can be purchased anywhere. It’s low maintenance but not no maintenance. K rend has a 50yr life span, normal render would need paint at least 5 times over 50 years! That’s of course if the normal render lasts that long.

Sand and cement rubed up primed and pained,best ever

Hi i painted one of my customers exterior draft walls with railing above , so the wall is literarily on the road and takes all the muck and pollution from traffic and the eloments , she wanted it painted white which I did but was against it because it will get very dirty quickly , so this was done last summer. Say 6 months later there seems to be a green mould or something on the hole front of the wall could you tell me why this has happened as it had two coats of exterior white masonry paint and I pvad the wall prior .

I had my plasterer re render my window bay on my house with k rend purely because he had a bag of it on the van... matched in with existing painted pebble dash render with his Tyrolene gun. Finish is great but I soon painted over it once dry with sandtex Maggie! As the colour of it was naff. Meant to be cream but was more like mustard yellow!

Hi, I am about to paint my newly rendered (cement/sand/lime) front garden wall. Can you recommend a good paint for this and do I need to seal the wall with mist coat. Can I add some waterproof PVA to the mist coat to improve the seal? Thanks

As a painter your not going to want houses to be K rendered as you won’t have work, Window cleaners WFP system would clean up well. U mug

Do not have this on your house it will end up dirty with water marks no matter what pricy treatments to keep it clean are sold to you. How can you keep a scratched render clean when it has so many vectors for collecting dirt, it’s rubbish and anyone who buys it is being conned. The only reason it’s so popular with tradesmen is because any fool can get it level using an I bar but getting traditional sand and cement level takes more skill.

Very simple it’s not k rend. You can tell by the finish it’s a cheap alternative. You’ve been sold a cheap alternative you can tell by the finish if it’s heavily pitted it’s just a cheap knock off and the tradesman has made a few extra quid. What a shame

I’d recommend getting yourself a decent brush instead of trying to clean a wall with a shite soft paintbrush

sounds like a decorator who isnt getting outside work now that coloured renders are out. Its much better than sand cement . You just need a jetwash it takes it off straight away
