At 17 yrs old, I was fortunate enough to see them in 1996. This was one of my favorite songs back then. Little did I know how powerful it was. I’m now 9 years sober off heroin. It still blows my mind to hear this song now. In my opinion, 1 of the best songs in the 90’s! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Fall 95-end 1996 was pretty hard on many generation Xers. We had our music but we had our habits. I basically spent a whole year awake. Got introduced Crystal Meth in college 1995. Lost baseball scholarship, was in rehab a year later. Thank god I had parents that cared. I turned 19 June96.
Girl we share this story, mad love to you, I wish you the very best from the bottom of my heart, it's still hard, it haunts my dreams, but I've grown so much since then. It made me a better person in the end
AgentU The Irony of that is that it COULD ONLY Have been written, (and probably not Preformed) By AnyONE I don't care who it is...in a nut shell: It would take a JUNKIE to understand the subject Well, Enough...To write this song ( and maybe to preform it) I am SOMEONE[ ;~} ] Who Should know. not proud of it what's just real...
@@dirkdiggler1242 you have to be joking. this song is CLEARLY about heroin, this can be easily inferred from the lyrics. "The deeper you stick it in your vein, he deeper the thoughts, there's no more pain", "We're high above, but on the floor ". i mean the name of the song is "im not an addict" for gods sake. it is very much about drugs, do a little research before you put crap like that out there! it makes one appear to be unschooled
"The song's content originates from Sam Bettens' previous experiences with drugs and his views on substance dependence. He explained in an interview that he was addicted to cigarettes and experimented with acid and mushrooms but never tried any hard drugs, fearing that it would make him lose touch with his self-control." Yeah, definitely not about drugs. But I'd also like to add that there were much bigger anti-dope songs in the 90's. It was kind of the thing. Interstate Love Song by STP, Semi-Charmed Life by 3EB, just about every other song by Arrested Development....
Oh man this song makes me tear up every time I listen to it...*free me see me...* The lyrics and her voice just tear me up when I hear it.. am I alone here?
Sarah, you and me sung together at Bohagers in Baltimore ‘96. Everyone else was there to see The Verve Pipe and Tonic. I was there for K’s Choice and knew every word you sang. The light shined on my face, you saw me saying every word. We locked eyes and just enjoyed your song. I’ll never forget it. Thank you so much.
I feel that comment. All of my favorites from the 90's are now dead because of their addiction to heroin. Curt, Chris, Scott, Layne, Shannon, etc. Wish they could have overcame their demons.
Hey I said needles. I made many other poor choices. Drug abuse is a symptom to the problem in the words of DMX. Stay strong people. Love to the ones I hope to see someday again.
We're all addicts in one way or another. Not necessarily addictided to a substance. But we all have something in our lives that we feel we can't do without. It's part of the human condition. Love this song.
This song resonates with many of us. It will always remind me of my friend, who I met as a teenager, after he came out of jail. Love him to death. He sure is an addict and doesn't look very much alive but his soul is still there and has loads of love in it. Will always love him, even if we don't talk for long periods of time.
The vocals really hit home trying to pretend that it's not that bad and screaming for someone to save them at the same time. I only recently discovered the song, and am really looking forward to hearing the rest of all I missed.
First time I heard this song I was in a strip club in Idaho with an ex girlfriend and the next dancer came out to this song. Nearly 20 years later, this song always takes me back to that night ❤
Former heroin addict here. Love that song, I agree that the message is positive overall but I stick with it be cause it also underlines the denial, the side effects. They really captured that strange state of mind when you wanna use and convince yourself it’s all good but you are aware that you’re drowning
THIS Woman!!!(K's Choice) I wish I knew who she was/Is Because this is the deepest; most heartfell; Soulful; A Subtle but ,Deeply Burning, Pain And She Song's it like she has Really felt and lived it. This song can bring a tear to the eye if One reflects on his/hers Own personal Road...that was not far ...not farr at all.
You can't just make up those words. Either She has been there or someone else wrote it. She is extremely creative but yeah that came from somewhere and gave herself a personal education. Either way, She came out on top and never looked back. That's something to be very proud of, maintaining her sobriety. I saw her when she looked just like this in the video. Times have drastically changed for her who is a him now and goes by "Sam". I only wish the best for anyone in this rough and tough world. Good Luck Sam!!!
Breathe it in and breathe it out And pass it on, it's almost out We're so creative, so much more We're high above, but on the floor It's not a habit, it's cool, I feel alive If you don't have it, you're on the other side The deeper you stick it in your vein The deeper the thoughts, there's no more pain I'm in heaven, I'm a god I'm everywhere, I feel so hot It's not ah habit, it's cool, I feel alive If you don't have it, you're on the other side I'm not an addict, maybe that's a lie It's over now, I'm cold, alone I'm just a person on my own Nothing means a thing to me Oh, nothing means a thing to me It's not a habit, it's cool, I feel alive If you don't have it, you're on the other side I'm not an addict, maybe that's a lie Free me, leave me Watch me as I'm goin' down And free me, see me Look at me, I'm fallin' and I'm fallin' It is not a habit, it is cool, I feel alive, I feel It is not a habit, it is cool, I feel alive It's not a habit, it's cool, I feel alive If you don't have it, you're on the other side I'm not an addict, maybe that's a lie I'm not an addict I'm not an addict I'm not an addict
