3rd time my transmission breaks down. I had the confidence in 2 guys already that only made temporary fixes. Cant wait to use this to rebuild my transmission. Thanks for the vid!!!
Yo man, on the real you just showed me that i can do this on my own, gave me the confidence! Trans isn't as complicated as i thought! The hardest part to me is getting the trans out the car, going by this video the rest is 🎂! Man thank you so much man!!! I got a third gear grind so video was perfect!!!
I don't even have an engine or transmission to work on but i appreciate the hard work you put into your videos bro Very knowledgeable! soon ill be working on a k series of my own😬! Thank you!
our chump world series series race car lost second gear in a s80 for the same reason. my understanding of that ring is it acts like a brake pad or spring between the synchronizer and hub. Your K series is the only other time I have seen that failure mode. THANKS FOR THE VIDEOS! Even if your doing things I've seen or done before I still pick up little tips along way. Thanks again for opening up your shop to us and sharing your experiences.
awesome to see the whole breakdown being explained in detail. I actually have my transmission out of my k20a3 for potential rebuild since I'm replacing my clutch. I like the break down videos! keep them going!
man this is such a great video! honestly probibly one of your most informative videos you have ever made! it took me a few days to figure out how to get my H transmission back together when I put my LSD in! i wish there was more step by step how to videos like this when I didn't have a clue what I was doing! the k seires trans is just like a B, H,F,D trans except there's an extra detent ball and spring, a 6th gear and they changed the 1/2 inch ratchet snap ring plug to separate that case to a hex key. I wonder how many views this is gunna get over the next 5 years?!?!
Dude omfg. Watching this in 2023 and I got my car back from the dealer and they unplugged this I was wondering why I was having such a hard time shifting from 5th to 6th getting stuck in the reverse. I swore up and down he fucked it up and I’ve been searching to figure out what that plug was on my RSX.💀💀💀😂 you my good sir are a godsend.
excellent video i tried to rebuild my 1st k series transmission and 1 gear set was sitting higher than the other took them out re aligned like you said and they dropped in perfect thank you!
I just started watching Honda manual (or automatic too) transmission rebuilds. 2 of your vids are very easy to follow, (this one, the camera was a little all over a few times...but!), and the two transmissions were similar. The last one I was was a 5 speed. Very helpful! Thank you!
found your channel though the Fit Kswap vids... great info for an old guy who did light V8 camaro stuff back in the early 80 and now looking to kswap one of my Honda Fit's. Thanks for putting out this content.
Gonna comment again an just say what a wounder video this was to watch. Love how you did things twice at times when it was a important part to get rite. I will prolly watch this video many times over to get this information sunk in the old melon.
Thank you for posting, needed to reseal this section due to a small leak. I have already experienced what happens when it runs out of fluid. So far, I have seen it has gone down to 1/3 of capacity of MTF. Ready to fix before putting motor and transmission back in, after replacing timing chain kit. Good day to you.
Currently doing a K24/K20 with a JRSC. Engine is out of the car and transmission is seperated. I was debating on whether or not i wanted to address the 3rd gear grind, but after watching this im confident I can replace my synchro without any headache. Thanks a shitload and I'll keep you posted on the finished product.
That plastic piece is what distributes gear oil strategically in the transmission. As the diff turns it scoops up gear oil and flings it to the top of that plastic piece where it flows down to each part where the bearings are. Take it out and you diminish the life of the bearings. It is the same thing on B, H and Transverse F series. IDK about D series though other than the D17 transmissions.
once again mark.... u never fail to deliver a great how to diy video... hope u have more subscribers and more videos in the future... put me down for some HSG t shirts.... support the cause!!!!!!
Man I been following for a good while ...love all your vids but mostly like videos like this (my opinion of course) lol keep it up man hopefully you will never ever ever ever ever stop making videos man. (:
I’ve found with my Toyota transmissions the oem fluid is 75w90 aka gear oil, with that situation I’ve found it’s best to squirt some syncromesh in with the gear oil to get some more longevity out of the syncros
Great video! But I think I would get a pack of plastic sandwich-bags and put each sub-assembly with its bolts/bits into a separate bag instead of having one big box.
really appreciate the video, i wanna do the synchros in my 08 civic si. It doesn't like going into first or second, thinking about sending it to synchrotech for a full rebuild, but I know it'll be cheaper if I do it myself
Hello, I just subscribed. This video was great on info and visual. I'm looking foward to you doing the B series since i'm about to do my Type R trans 1-2 gear synchros and hub with slider. I have never done this so I can't wait till you post a B series like you mentioned in this video. I'm sure the K and B are similar since it seems most manual trans look like they are.
I really wanted to watch this, but got dizzy after the first 3 minutes. moving forward manually every 5 seconds works great though. thanks for the tutorial
Cheers for the video. I’ve got mine apart currently, but I’m having an issue removing the outer race from the roller bearing out of the casing. Any advice or help with this please?
This video helped me find y my reverse lights are not working. Rite when I bought the car it had a k24 swope and the reverse switch plug is missing and I thought it was the reverse lock out.
So I pulled a junkyard on off, took it apart just the case off and looked inside didn't remove the shift forks, but I slid the forks around. Now its together on the bench, run it through all gears, feels good but when I put it in neutral the CV holes still move, I can't stop it with my finger. I'm not sure if this is normal all 4 shift fork things lign up and my shifting assembly goes in good
Hey sup buddy,,so earlier yesterday I’ve took my coupe out for a ride since it was nice,I’ve haven’t since the weather has been real shitty the pass few weeks.so I’m on the high way I’m diving and I started to noticed this wired sounds that’s coming form my car..when I put it in neutral out of the gear,it don’t make the noise, soon I’m back in gear it starts to make the noise agin,it seems to only be anything over 3000rpms.when I go to step on the clutch to shift I can also feel it in the clutch pedal as well..it’s like a rattle sound.i thought it could of been one of the pulleys,so I took off the belt off and it didn’t make any difference, the same if I was to step on the clutch pedal while the engine running, same thing still making the rattle noise and as for when I rev it up..
