Hi, thank you for your message. When a regular sample playback engine is used for tonewheel organ sounds, there will always be some degree of phase cancellation. To eliminate it altogether, it is necessary to have a dedicated organ engine, which is not available on the Montage. We have done our best to minimize phase cancellation within the limitations of the Montage system.

To assign a foot switch to the mod wheel (that they are using for rotor speed), press utility, Settings, Midi I/O, and find the "FS Assign" box. Set the value to 1 which is the CC value for the mod wheel. I have not tried it on this patch set but it works in general for the built-in organ patches.

Hi Michael! Thank you for your comment. The drawbars do not correspond to MIDI CC numbers. The Montage uses internal system exclusive messages for slider movements.

Thank you for your comment. Organimation for Montage / MODX is programmed for the Assignable foot *switch* input to control rotary speaker speed. (The foot *controller* inputs are not assigned to this.) I recommend using a latching footswitch, not the normal momentary kind, so that it can toggle the rotary speaker speed.

Thank you for your message. Extensive testing was done with both rotary effects. The decision of which to use was based on how the effects fit into the overall programming. Neither effect was used as-is. Custom programming takes Organimation's rotary emulation to a higher level.

I emailed Tim, but for others who are interested: On the Montage, you'll need to press the Utility button, touch the Settings tab, touch the MIDI I/O sub-tab, and touch the FS Assign parameter. Change its value to 1. This will cause the footswitch to duplicate the mod wheel. It will have momentary response, giving a fast rotary speaker speed only while the pedal is held down. If you need a footswitch to toggle the rotary speaker speed instead, I recommend purchasing a latching footswitch.

On your Mac format the disk as Fat32. Try a different USB if that doesn't work.

MODX has same sound engine and effects as Montage. It just has less polyphony in the FM engine and less physical sliders. Both sound the same.

Hi Robert, Thank you for your comments. I too would have preferred the Montage to have 9 sliders instead of 8. For performances with all drawbars active, Organimation combines the 1 3/5' and 1 1/3' drawbars onto a single slider. Those drawbars are provided as separate samples too. Agreed, having the sliders reverse their response for organ sounds would be nice too. Most Organimation performances show which drawbars are active. The Super Knob is programmed to offset element volumes, providing a variety of drawbar settings as it is turned, so you can't simply look at the slider LED's to see the default drawbar setting. However, it's very easy to save your own presets that DO show the actual drawbar positions: Simply start with a performance that offers all drawbars (see the Organimation User Guide if you're unsure which ones do), turn the Super Knob to its far right position, and then adjust the sliders. When the Super Knob is all the way to the right, the drawbars (and their LED's) reflect the actual drawbar setting. Store the performance.

I realize this is a promo for your programs and not a Montage promo. Sorry for being a downer about it. Your programs sound great. Yamaha frustrates me, and I've used their products for years and only recently changed to Kurzweil and Nord. Your product sounds solid though, if I was a Montage user I'd definitely be using it.

And I can relate - I can't think of any keyboard that hasn't caused frustration at some point due to some aspect of its design. Even so, each synth offers tremendous musical potential, and I highly respect the brilliant minds that create them.

This probably isnt' the best forum for a product recommendation: but a great product you could put out would be VAST organs for the Forte. Since you can only run one instance of KB3 mode in a multi, you can't really build a 2 register organ patch without VAST organs. Major drawback of what is otherwise a great instrument.

Yamaha didn't intend the Montage to function as a clonewheel, the sliders were not designed for drawbar organ emulation. Organimation is cleverly finding a way to simulate those functions anyway, but has to live with the limitations of 8 sliders that only work in one direction. It's a byproduct of making the keyboard do something it was not originally designed to do.

Thank you for your comment. Keep in mind that Kronos has a dedicated organ mode, so one would hope their drawbar implementation would be friendly. The Montage version of Organimation maximizes the general-purpose controls of the Montage and offers fantastic sound quality.

The Kronos organ sounds are horrible though.

@@Espectro101 kronos have average sound quality of hammond, but the internal presets are total shit , i have my programmed presets and around 500 3rd presets so i am ok with it, your pity that you cant programming sounds

i bought the KRONOS LS 88 and the organ on that puppy is LEGIT But it still does not sound like my HAMMOND XK 5 PRO SERIES
