You're greatly appreciated because you share great wisdom, helping folks to maintain & repair instead of blindly hoping for expensive dealership help. Please continue being who you are!
I love your explanations...I actually have to rebuild my CTS turbo I've had it 3 yrs and I had a kink in oil supply line...so now I'm gonna rebuild it and make sure the oil supply line is perfectly round
Black . Your videos are so informative, been watching a lot lately and gave me more confidence to work on my a4 2.0 , thank you for sharing your experience/knowledge.
Just came by this as I finished rebuilding and installing a "new" turbo. Ended up going to the dealership to get some upper manifold studs and nuts so I could replace those. having the gasket properly lined up wth the 2 farthest studs helped so much and having the bottom support blocks slightly loose but only a few turns from being tight. definitely helped with having it lined up, before it was possibly misaligned and ended up just sounded like absolute crap, I could tell there was some boost being built as the negative pressure was showing on my guage going near the positive side. But not enough to actually spool the turbo enough to activate the bov. As I am writing this it is now almost all put back together. just waiting for the rain to stop so I can get everything checked over
Blue. Love the clip, wish my audi guy would have told me about this. Now its down with a timing tensioner fail with bent valves. Thinking of these upgrades. I like your style bro
Helios Blue, Monza Blue, Pasadena Blue, heck any thing starting with LA5. Let's see if this makes sense. Nice to see the humbleness. Best of luck from London, UK.
Your a kook how obviously knows his stuff regarding turbos. Very informative. I’m having a CTS K04 installed on my B8 2.0. next week along with a CTS intercooler, Cts down pipe w/high flow cat, integrated engineering aluminum intake, CTS intake and stage 2 tune. Hoping to beat my wifes TTS. GLACIER WHITE.
@@NaptownTuner First of all, I really enjoy your content. It’s informative and fun. Also not sure how you can basically dismantle the engine with one hand while the other hand films it but it’s awesome to watch! On to my question. I’m looking at doing a K04 upgrade on my B8.5 A5 flex. You’ve talked about CTS’s turbo solution but do you have any thoughts/experience with the other K04s (APR, HPA, JHM)? I personally think it would be worth while if you created some content on the different K04 options. But my opinion is a bit biased :)
Matte Black -- I found this looking for stuff around the TFSI K04. I have a 2013 Manual Quattro A4, and I am debating between the K04 and the 'Boss 500' turbo. Tuning options for the Boss seem hard to come by compared to the K04, so that will probablly be what I end up with. I also have a 97 Nissan 240SX on it's second KA24DE, running a T3/T4 Turbo. When I turn up the boost it is about 340-350 hp. You speak my language for the purpose of both cars.
Ha! Eureka! There's a You: Napping, Towning, Tuning....being sincere, in the most humorous way!!! Your excellence is way appreciated....all us Audi people really ever wanted to be was; 'smart'. Thank you...I will make all Audi and VW, and applicable people in my life watch this channel...cuz it's smart.
AussieTeck Great video once Aagin. You call it as it is no BS. Very knowledgeable Dude thats for sure. Thanks for your time and detail information. Keep on bringing great videos...All the Best from Down Under.
Thank you so much for your videos. I have a 2007 Audi a4 quattro 2.0 twin turbo. Your videos are so helpful and I have learned a lot. You are appreciated.
@@henryjohnson7278 ok haha I didnt know that was a thing that's very interesting I thought u were saying it came like that from factory haha. Do you have any issues with it now that its twin turboed?
I was replacing my gasket on my test pipe and since it was exposed I could see and spin that gate around and knew it was definitely lose and when I turn my car off I here that little rattle come from my intake like you mentioned with the borescope how it will do that. I’m going try that clip first and see if I get lucky and see if it stops spinning.
Magenta😂. Cool video, and helps explain alot, keep them coming Naptown👍. I'm getting my 2010 Audi A5 2.0TFSI rebuilt with forged pistons and rods as i write this, and am looking to get a K04 for it, or maybe now investigating the Boss500 turbo kit. Have installed large front mount and dump pipe, upgraded all intercooler pipes, diverter valve, muffler delete, pcv and external catch can, coil packs etc. Oh and coilovers are in transit too🤭
Henry Ford once said you could get any color model t you wanted as long as it was black. I'm somewhat of a traditionalist and I like things to be understated and conservative. My favorite color on an Audi is silver however this works well with VWs and Mercedes as well. The three colors that I admire the most silver, metallic gray and black.
On the other hand I hate silver because the default color for any wheelset base model is silver. So I relate silver to entry level, is the default color offered on base platforms.
holy crap that clip is clutch asf! thankfully I could buy a turbo if I needed to, but I'm tryna do the clip first, literally a 5 second job! unfortunately the engineers just HAD to put the wastegate rod in the worst place possible BLUE
Blue and red! Loved the vid bro. Got a 2013 A4 b8 Quattro. Automatic. Highflow cat, turbo muffler delete, Apr stg 2. Thinking k04 eventually. Any advice is welcomed! Thanks!
Pastel Pink or Baby Blue, best colors a woman can where, or 4 wheeler frames powder coated lol. I powdercoated a YFZ 450 frame baby blue once it looked awesome.
Hey bud. I’m new to the older q5’s. Got a part number on that quick fix clip for the turbo? I know mine is suspect. Thanks for the help and info in advance!! 🤙
@naptowntuner . How many times have you seen that wastegate actuator rod clip temporary fix PO299 code? thanks. Lately like green color the most :). Thanks for the video
Blue. I have a question for you. I have a 2012 audi a4 quattro 2.0 and I just did a new piston and rings and sent the head out for a rebuild. I want the turbo to work correctly before I put the engine back in so I'm thinking a k04 but do I really need a tune if I keep the oem injectors? And do I need a new intercooler? I did already buy the new down pipe. Cat delete. Thanks
Will you be putting a turbo clip on your new turbos wastegate? I’m on the fence about a used Ko4 turbo I can buy for half the msrp you mentioned. It has 5000 miles on it & I haven’t checked the wastegate yet.
Hi there I put castles pipe in my 2.0t Jetta first had lotssss of white smoke and now engine code for the cat sooo what should I do I researched on line but everybody tells something else tks
Black, 😂😂 thumbs up for your vids. great info u got there. just wondering have u tried mounting ur Garrett turbo to your Q5? I’ve got one laying around in my garage but didn’t know what to do with it so I was wondering how big of a hassle or is it even possible to mount it on a Q5 2.0 B8.
That was for an sr20det I swore I would never get into 4cylinder after all my experience with low rpm power / low displacement drift car stuff but after doing all the work on this engine/ car I do like it and it makes for a great compromise for power to fuel economy and how the power comes on with direct injection. The K04 is as big as you’d want to go for a turbo in my opinion and a stage 2 tune is also very nice

what's the difference between these one and the Hybrid X?
I put a hpa billet k04 on my 2009 Passat variant r line with a cts turbo intake and full 3 inch straight pipe and when I get into boost at medium throttle my DV valve opens and closes like it doesn’t know what to do. Is this because I’m running a k04 on a stock tune?
Video is kinda funny, lol. And when comparing the outlet on the k03/k04(cts), they have that outlet cuz they used to use factory s3 BW k04-064, so they had to modify the outlet since its from a transverse car. Not cuz of flow, etc. They no longer do this, and offer a new k04-1070 which has a factory style outlet now.
can you add an external wastegate? i have 2010 with the oil burning problem so if I gotta rebuild the motor gonna go balls to the wall and upgrade it all......... how much power can this turbo produce on a automatic vs a manual bc i could swap the tranny as well
I have a 2011 A5 with 115k miles just pulled a 0299 code and they quoted me $1800 for a stock turbo and install, was thinking of getting the CTS k04 for 1300 and upgrading...thoughts?
have you ever used a ebay turbo for any of your applications? Just want to know if there are other options. and before anyone says you get what you pay we all dont have $2000 just laying around. Thanks. oh midnight blue
My 2012 audi a5 B8 K03 pushes 25psi of boost when I throw it in manual and gas the gears. Is this a lot? I feel like I have not seen anyone with that much. Its a rebuilt turbo looks brand new I got it from my warranty company for the wastegate rattle and audi installed it. I have IE stage 1 93oct.
@NaptownTuner Do you have a part number or technical name for that Turbo wastegate arm clip? I want to pick up a few of them and install them for some Great PM. I did not know about this clip, AWESOME KNOWLEDGE SHARE!!!
