You made a mistake there... The XIAOMI MI 9T is the international version of the REDMI K20. While the REDMI K20 PRO actually just launched its international version which is the XIAOMI MI 9T PRO. So if you want to buy the international version you DO NOT need to deal with the slower CPU... The PRO versions come with snapdragon 855, be it the china or international version.

You can fix Microstutters by Disabling the MIUI optimisations by going into Dev Mode.

dave u can switch the default camera as gcam by locating to settings>apps>options>default apps>camera>select gcam

Remember the days when oneplus one was the fastest high end budget phone... 300€ while lg g3 where still 400€ for fhe 2gb... That was lit. Xiaomi was also there but not as good. Now oneplus is like 600€.. And here is xiaomi 300€ high end phone...

A note for you all: The K20 Pro is going to launch internationally as the Mi 9T Pro soon! And yeah, the Mi 9T is known in some markets as the K20. Edit: Some people have told me that the Mi 9T Pro launch is official now, which is great!!

Fun fact the screen on k20 is over clockable to 75hz. Though it requires a bit of tinkering Edit: now upto 81hz

Bought the Mi 9t here in Europe, S9 was sadly still 500€ onwards while the mi 9t was around 370€.

It's been 4 years since I bought one for me. It still works FLAWLESSLY. Plus the developer community support has been insane with this thing. I'm running Pixel Experience Rom based on Android 13 and I have no complaints whatsoever. Needed a battery replacement once but that was all. The devs are working on an android 14th ROM too. That's gonna add atleast another year of support to this. Super Super happy and so grateful

K20 pro and K20 displays can be overclocked at 81Hz by root. Check xda for more information on that

It's not particularly correct to compare 9T to K20 Pro because 9t is an international equivalent of k20 (sold in China and India), 9t Pro (which is the same phone as K20 Pro) will be released in Europe this month (20th, if I'm not mistaken, in Holland, and then, shortly, all around the EU). As for the speed of the UI, that Dave faced, I think it may be the result of Nova Launcher. I've owned a few Xiaomi phones and noticed that they are not Nova-friendly (maybe just my experience, I prefer MIUI anyways). Thank you for the video!

Just got the S9+ a few weeks ago and the stereo speakers are a seriously nice feature. I didn't (completely) realize how bad mono sound was until getting this phone. Watching vids and listening to music is a completely different experience now.

Literally just bought an S9+ for $364 last week. Supper happy with everything about this phone.

The micro stutters are because of the MIUI once stable ROMs are out like pixel experience or lineage put it on that it will become smoother

Are you judging for the sake of judging? People dissed last year's Pocophone F1 for having a plastic body. Now this one has glass to fix that issue, and yet you still find it a flaw.

Got my 9T about a month ago and honestly couldn't be happier for the value you get: great cameras, screen/body ratio, in-screen fingerprint scanner... Amazing device. After 4 years of resisting to upgrade from my iPhone 5s for pocketability reasons, I'm realizing the massive bump in size isn't that big of a deal really (I'd still like to be able to use it single-handedly, though, but can't). I never noticed the stutters Dave mentions in his video. Like, ever. Not a heavy user though, but everything feels so smooth after a month of use, and never had to reboot save for a couple of MIUI updates. I do have a couple of comments to make, however: 1. Voice messages I send sound a little tinny compared to my old iPhone 5s, so maybe the mic in the 9T is not so high quality. 2. The AMOLED screen is amazing for the price, sure, but when transitioning from pure black to a certain tone of grey, it leaves this awful trail of dark blue behind before pixels turn grey. It's just a fraction of a second, but it's clearly noticeable, especially if you like to use Dark Mode in certain apps (e.g. Reddit)- Not sure whether this is common to certain AMOLED screens (it's my first one) or I got a defective one, but just be aware this might happen. Just my two cents. All in all though, not a purchase you'll regret.

Great comparison review. I currently own the Mi 9T & OP7 PRO. I switched my main sim in the Mi 9T and so far this device has exceeded my expectations. You get a lot of bang for not a lot of buck.

K20 pro with its price is perfect phone that ever existed I've checked 50+ reviews and comparisons with k20 but still it always the best even after year man seriously amoled display , 48 mp Sony camera , popup camera , full display , SD855 processor , 27W charging is enough seriously no need of that 65W charger . a perfect flagship phone .

Addressing some stuff you said: There will be a 90Hz screen mod avalable, its currently 81Hz, but will be pushed higher to 90 And I've never seen microstutters on mine, plus ROM support will make it even faster. Mi9T Pro launching soon too, get that if you want.

Dave, you can overclock the display to 80hz. But it need rooting, installing twrp and other stuff.

the premium phones cost is high not because they are so polished or anything like that. it's the same reason how diamonds price is high. Once we are used a certain proce we believe the thing costs that much and that's not the case.

for the software stutter ,id just recommend if you have any phone not just this xiaomi but any phone and you're encountering software issues like that and well if they ruin the usage experience for you ,just install the google now launcher off of the playstore, its simple, sweet n smooth.

Hey Dave, there is a mod for the 2 phones which allows them to run their screen at 84Hz. Oh and custom ROMs for xiaomi phones are amazing, IMO nobody with a xiaomi phone should run miui.

There is almost no reason to buy a flagship phone or now even the “flagship killer phone “with how good mid range Phones are.

Truth is, its damn good. All the hardware issues will come sooner or later for newer or more expensive phones. No matter what, this is still an upgrade to most peoples devices looking for a cheaper alternative. So its a great option

I bought my s9 plus a few months ago. Best value in the world right now.

Using the K20 pro 6+128GB (white and gold), typing this right now. Bought 2 weeks ago in China from Taobaos Xiaomi Flagship store ¥2299 plus extra ¥20 for the 27W adapter. Great phone, super fast, super feel, really fast to charge. Installed google play etc. but haven't uninstalled the pre installed software from MIUI. Coming from the iPhone X 64GB and this K20 pro feels so much better, bigger n nicer screen and most importantly, no more notched phones for me anymore.

The K20 uses bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 34, 38, 39, 40, and 41. There are 4 major carriers in the U.S: Verizon, Sprint, Tmobile, AT&T. Using this device on Verizon or Sprint? No, cause this is a GSM phone, and Verizon and Sprint uses CDMA. So either you simply cannot use this phone on their devices, or you need to finaggle your way. I call that a rather extreme compromise. Ok, so we have At&t or T-Mobile that you can possibly use their phone on. The majority of T-Mobile's LTE is on band 2, 4, 5, and 12. So if you are on T-Mobile, then you will surely have "compromised" service on this device. AT&T? 2, 5, 17. So its only compatible with one of K20's LTE bands. Again, if you do not live in an area with band 5, then screw it. I find it to be fatal, even a bit misleading, to speak praises of a phone, talk about their "compromises" and not talk about an integral part of the phone's software/hardware: the LTE bands they connect to -_-

Man, I am so tired of phones with glass back. I hate putting a case on my phone, but I'm always forced to. They're very fragile and slippery. Next phone will have to be plastic back or something stronger than glass.
