What’s good family, hell yeah I love these types of vlogs their so informative and I learn just a bit more every time. The K motor is such a legendary motor and to learn how to do these mods to one from an amazing teacher makes it that much better.
Start by saying I truly appreciate having found your channel. None of that yea, yea, cool thanx. In all seriousness I mean it! I've never owned a Honda, never had an interest in them. I grew up during the 90's fastback Mustang dealio. Anyways, to the point. I bought an 09 accord ex-l 2.4l k24z3 with 298k on dash and papered stock rebuild has 140k on it. Got it for 3k. Long story short, it had the infamous startup rattle. Actuator. So, having been turning wrenches since I was a kid now 43. I neglected to change it in time so it jumped. On top of that when I removed the top guide it snapped back down into groove on sprocket. Had been riding on top of it. Anyways, do my research and I seriously spent many hours learning etc. Full timing chain kit including new actuator and exhaust sprocket, oem time tensioner and oil chain tensioner. Valve lash, etc. Put er all back together, primed the fuel pump and fired it up. To my surprise nothing but the stuff burning off the cat shield and all was in spec. Ran solid for 4 days then changed the oil and put in new. Figured damn it's driving like it were new, get the windows blacked out, throw the shades on and 3 days later leaving gas station... Red oil can pops on 30 seconds from home. Started and ran every single diagnostic test I could think of and checked every single plug, valve, selenoid, etc. Also, I pinned the pcm Connectors to designated switch, plug, etc. Ran at idle for an hr, no change, no flex in temperature so took it for a short ride and that's when it all went to shit. Upset, I pop valve cover and see what I call carbon gristle. In my head this whole time I kept wondering if it was the oil balance shaft bolt... drop pan and yea I was and still am sick to my stomach but that bolt was 5 spins loose before it snugged up. From under looking up on cylinder 1 side it all just looks charred. Haven't dropped pump yet, but the amount of metal strands, chunks, pieces etc my brain says take what's new off of it and start taking apart things I can keep and get another motor. I HATE that integrated exhaust to the head, and I wanted to put a bit more open of exhaust on it like a cat delete or something and on intake do something to let it breathe a bit more, but now I've gotta find a way to come up with 1.4k for a motor that has 50k on it. May I please have some thoughts, and respectable opinions on this. I owe 1800 still but they won't let me drop another one in cuz it'd be considered a rebuild and they don't "do that". I do all my own work and was supposed to be my winter vehicle as my truck is an audio project or hobby. I'm dead lost what to do asidenfrom new-er motor and salvage whats good on other. Timing chain, sprockets all that. Please help, I AM desperate and I really like the car especially with windows done, lol. Thank you!
You waiting for me Papi waiting for me to go pick up that block and transmission so I can drop it in my 05 Honda Civic LX special edition so I could race all these mustangs in Boston Massachusetts represent, 🏎️🇵🇷
Great content brother 💪🏽🙏🏽🔫🔫 just wish when you get them oem parts you would show each of them one by one how you got them layed out so I can make sure I don’t mess up ordering the wrong one 🤣 I be trying to go slow on the videos to screen shot the ones you didn’t show like the timing chain guide and more…
I have all the parts to do the oip pump, 50°vtc, and timing on my k24a. I noticed you hand tughtened the guide and tensioner bolts. Are there torque specs to follow, or just snug? You got all new bolts, but is it fine to reuse the old ones? I have new gyudes and all that, but not new bolts. Do you use loctite or hondabond on anything other than that 1 plug with the HB?
No disrespect but "40" I believe you called him you know the "guy" that said "Hi" is the star of your show very CARismatic individual he has the it factor plenty of izm no male groupie here but deserves his own episodes
Bro just some unsolicited advice, if you put an @ sign and : between the minutes and seconds, it'll create a link that takes you to that time. Like this.. @20:48
I have a K24A in my garage that I am building Aki. I was going to change my oil pan to a baffled one for track reason and leave the stock oil pump. Should I do the K20 oil pump conversion? Is the K20 conversion always recommended? Thanks
I feel so duped by the guy who’s been working in my Honda. I can’t believe how janky it feels and he’s had my car 5 months. Tells me yesterday he pushed me off because I wasn’t in his ass and I’m 1400 miles away
