Looking good. Divide and conquer sections is how I do mine too. Sometimes you need to walk away and return to it later. I've found amber shellac as a seal coat stops what I call the bruised banana look. You still get grain though a bit more muted. Then a final protective coating. Outstanding work with the raw wood! I'm looking forward to the next one...
Hi Sean: Thanks! I do believe the amber shellac finish is probably very close to what they used on the beechwood stocks. I think they used a different finish on the walnut stocks though. Yep, I'll post the next one later today.
