Finally the day has come for the 1989 Chevy K5 Blazer, I was finally able to get the driver's pans in and welded up. After messing up the replacement pans and then repairing them the pans went in with plenty of cutting, fitting, more cutting and fitting and finally some welding and grinding.

Hey Matt, your old buddy Tom P. here from the DCI days and love the channel! I was just reminiscing about that poor Astro van I drove back from Phoenix with your rear end. If that thing is still on the road I guarantee it still smells like burnt diff fluid. Keep it up man!

I had totally forgot about that! Just hearing about that rear end makes me smell it!

You can use welding rod or even coat hangers to bridge the big gaps

Now that is a very helpful tip! Thanks, I'll end up doing that next time I have a gap to fill!

If you use welding rod what grade would you recommend for sheet metal

thank you for posting these videos. i just started this process on my 91 k5, and nobody actually shows how they did this stuff in this depth of detail. I actually have way more rust than you do on yours. the cab support rail going from front to back on mine, on both sides, is so bad that i actually have to rebuild it and patch it so that the cab actually has support! the front and rear braces on mine are also shot so those are getting replaced too. I look forward to the rest of the videos you post, so please do not stop recording!

I can’t wait for my rocker panels to get in so I join in the misery. Minus the slag in the ear, you are on your own with that one!

Ear plugs from this point on if I'm welding above my head! That hurt pretty darn bad!

We are at the exact same points in our restorations. I have an 86 forest service blazer I’m about to finish the welding today

I've still got the passenger side to do, hopefully I'll finish that this week.
