I got one of these as a present from my dad when I was 12. It is by far one of the most accurate rifles I've ever fired. My other guns on my ultra accurate and reliable list are my M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, M14, and semi converted M16A2. All amazing guns, the M1 Carbine and M16A2 have much shorter maximum ranges but when your shooting medium range they are very consistent and accurate. At >400m like my backyard range they are on par with the others on this list.

My Kar98 is probably my favorite rifle I own. Just because it's a design from the late 1800s and it's still one of the best bolt action designs ever made. They are smooth as glass because the quality of the steel and machining is just unmatched. Not just for when it was made...but even now. There's just nothing quite like a good Kar98.

Rifles is only single shot (bolt action), accept 22lr. 22lr and shotgun's is allowed in semi auto. Silencer is allowed. No problem buying the Barret m82 in 50cal. But the bullets are very expensive.

I have an East German post war refurb in my collection, and he condition is almost identical. The example in the video isn't sanded either, just look at the bolt handle cut out, and the recoil lug area, wood is still sharp and crisp. A few years back I had the opportunity to get a bringback K98 from vietnam, guy wanted 1,200 for it and came with papers, waffenampts were scrubbed was an obvious russian capture, I passed on it because I was looking for a good shooter and it would have taken a new stock and barrel to get it there, a month later i found a 1912 mexican mauser in 7x57mm, for what it's worth, look for an export mauser, the rifles that mauser obendorf and DWM made for the international market were always higher quality that the rifles made for germany

The Yugo M48 is just as good, functionally at least.

Very Nice description Talk n Video. The K 98K was one Helluva a Weapon. IT'S been Thirty plus Year's since I last Handled one. A Friend's Dad had a Snipers Model from WWII. What a Nice Piece of Gunsmithing it Was. IT Handled & Functioned Like A Dream. Thanks for the Quick lesson.

I absolutely love my Kar98k. It's a Yugoslavian captured and repurposed rifle, so most of the original Waffenamt pings were scrubbed down and restamped with the Yugo crest. Even still, it's in excellent condition and exceptionally accurate! Just wish I could find more ammo for it these days 😅

The notch in the gun infront of the extractor and bolt retaining box is so you can load stripper clips easier by simply pressing down with the middle of your thumb. Pretty subtle design but neat non the less

judging from the trigger guard and the condition this appears to be a post war Czech model. I picked up a K98 for 1150 (has mismatching serial numbers and swastikas have been punched out) but the components and bluing appear to be from the era. I can also just briefly make out the "H" on the stock for "Heer"

Love the glove-trigger guard! Just like my old sniper rifle! YEAH!!! I carried it along with MG 42 for...JESUS...nearly 2.5 years continuously! You use Rifle as backup, and for picking up tricky long-distance targets that pep-shoo-duck, peep-shot-got hit! and for recognizance (binoculars were rare!) I was such a big target for so long...IDK how am I alive!!! I admit I carried PASP M76 which is ONE BEAST OF MACHINED PRECISION KILLING-MACHINE! But the commander thought I was much more valuable with MG and K98! Those days were MORE THAN tough AND THEY MADE YOU TOUGH but I cherish them forever!"
