I'm the brother that received the BK2 and cant say enough about how this knife turned out. My brother has customized several knives for me and this has to be my favorite. The sheath is very well made and useful. Cant wait to take out with me on my next hunt. Though this knife looks good in the videos it is nothing compared to what it looks like in person. Thanks Bro, you did a great job as always
What a great sheath and scales!!! I have suggested to other leatherworks companies to make a quality leather sheath for this great knife. Your bro' will be getting a great gift!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
FIVE stars man, Great mods, i love it. i just got a BK2 recently and the main problen i have is that damn junk sheath it came with, and i have to say, yours seems like the best alternative ive seen so far. 5 STARS!!!
@elfy223 I tend to agree. I've made two more sheaths since then, one for me and one for a friend. Both used more stitching, and less rivets. It's largely personal preferrence though.
@ConditionRedDawn I made another one for myself which had fewer rivets, it's largely a personal prefference thing. I don't sell the knife/sheath work I do, this one was a gift for my brother.
@dracona70 I like your work. How did you learn to create leather sheaths and fabricate wood like that? What advice can you give to people who want to do this as a hobby. Please give a list of essential tools and materials and their costs that novices need to have to get their project started. Better yet, consider uploading a vid that demonstrates basic step by step scale and sheath production. Thanks.
@jackgreybear It's not a dive knife, your arguments are only really valid in a sustained submerged scenario. The factory hollow plastic scales would break easier than solid hardwood scales, and it's not going to crack just because it gets wet a few times. If you are married to synthetic materials then you should replace the scales with micarta ones. To think you can't improve on plastic scales and a cheap plastic sheath is laughable, appearently Becker agrees since they redesigned the sheath.
@jons4real The time it takes to make these makes it hard to justify unless you just enjoy doing it, especially for this knife. The handles and sheath would have to cost 3-4 times the cost of the knife (at least with the way I make them). I am planning on making another set though (I bought one for myself) and will record how I make them for those that are interested in the process.
The original sheath isn't kydex .. Its shitty glass reinforced nylon... I have a custom kydex sheath for mine and its quite awesome .. But to each his own I guess .. Your leather sheath is interesting .
