"In it's size range, I don't think there's anything better out there." I've handled a few knives in my day. If I had to QUICKLY choose from my collection, a tool to do it all, the Ethan #7 would probably be the first choice.
I agree, The handle and overall design of the knife, is brilliant! You can hold that knife from the pomel and use it as a machete to chop. You can choke up, by bringing your thumb and index finger on the part the blade meets the handle and pinch the blade with these to fingers, while the others grabbing the handle sideways, to hold it as a paring knife and peel an apple! No stupid finger choils with all the disadvantages they brng, and this jimping on the spine, helps when choking up or pinching the knife to do finer tasks! The tip also helps , to get into tight spaces or pierce, while its still not very thin. Weight, balance is spot on. If you just use a low grit sandpaper and pushe hard on the handle, you can put some random scratches, to improve the grip and make the knife PERFECT. It will feel like a G10 handle, yet it's lightweight, which helps keep the overall weight down and adds to this knife's magic!! Sorry for my English, I could right more on this knife!
No one says anything about field dressing game ( deer). The 7 seems like it would be the best for all round. I don't have enough money to buy. 6 knives.
The 7 would be a solid all around knife certainly! For most field dressing I'd lean towards the 16 or maybe the 14, a little smaller with better control, but it depends on how much other field crafty things you want to do. 16 video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e15RfJ79ODw.html 16 knife: agrussell.com/knife/Ka-Bar-Becker-BK16-Short-Drop-Point-Fixed-Blade--KABK-16 14 Video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LVnvs_uLAwU.html 14 Knife: agrussell.com/knife/Ka-Bar-Becker-Eskabar--KABK-14
