In this talk, David examines the question: Which books of Kabbalah should a person have when building a Jewish library?
He also speaks for the first time publicly about completing the first-ever full English translation of the cornerstone kabbalistic text, Tiqqunei HaZohar.
David begins his presentation with a broad overview of the foundational texts required for a Jewish library, before narrowing his focus to which books of Jewish Mysticism should also be included. In doing so, he explores the background of each of the kabbalistic texts discussed, including their:
historical emergence
themes, and
importance within the corpus of Kabbalah.
In the final part of the talk, David discusses the background and details of his translation of Tiqqunei HaZohar.
He also provides several images which illustrate the historical development of Tiqqunei HaZohar, including sample pages from the forthcoming publication of his translation.
This talk was presented in 2022 at Blake Street Shul in Melbourne. It was the final part of the shul's overview series, "The Jewish Bookshelf."

I have not perused the Zohar as yet David. I look forward to soon enough. I inadvertently stumbled into the subject heading Kabbalah as it falls under mysticism. From what I have listened to online so far I have found wanting. Being acquainted with the Holy book of Genesis in the Torah that is full of such richness and reveals a much deeper and bigger picture than I have heard discussed by the celebrated and elegant Daniel Matt or others maturely or even intimately, yet. To be learned is simply not enough. One must have strained intellectually like yourself and acquired the necessary spiritual attributes and senses that Divine WISDOM that is a true intellectual science and is developed upon the heart's enormous powers and strengths. Although mostly speculative at this stage of mankind's development and with the enormous efforts and contributions by yourself and others, hopefully, including scholars, as it needs to eventually become an integrated part of our current nil scholastic education and will broaden many of the sciences vision as it opens up the area of the relatively unexplored mind and the brains unidentified latent powers that can be tapped and once belonged mostly to the prophets or the divinely gifted. It is a natural and inherent instinct forged in the powerful essence of grace that is terribly neglected and poorly understood but waiting to be opened up for the whole world to be captured and stimulated as Plato refers to as Divine Madness so that the thinking intellect searches for the highest things which are spiritual and why Divine Science or Meta Physics requires communication powers that are intimately connected to divine revelations as they are accessible and revealed to the passionate and experienced heart that UNDERSTANDS eternal love and that the Creator of our orderly universe of mass alone bestows upon us with a true purpose underlying the physical world as we know it. The infinite love of God is no mere romance. It is the most powerful love that creates eternity and is stronger than physical death. Our emotions teach us that and what a benevolent example! We are indeed the beloved children of eternity. A soul must be placed into a form so that it can generate and expand the heavens or divine invisible worlds that is eternity. If we do not seek out eternity on Earth than the individual will not be prepared well enough to fulfil their full destiny and will repeat and painfully bear what neglect institutes. We are in a golden age spiritually where we can discover the mysteries that will light up the pathways to mankind's spiritual illumination and I pray with the interest in Kabbalah that Judaism will continue to mature and open up vistas so that the whole world can be enlightened.

I am looking forward to David's publication. I loved this talk, as usual and for a Christian I was happy to find I had all the books he recommended.

all Biblical and Zohar and Kabbalah is about one experience that JUDAH took a VOW to keep, which is bringing Messiah into the world: ALL traditions reveal it and all teachings are about this ONE SINGLE EXPERIENCE we all must have to close the book and LIVE TRUE ABUNDANT LIFE: our brain is made up of valleys and mountains and grooves and it is all housed in a skull that is the separation of the brain from the outer world: Heaven and hell are experienced within the brain: When you rise above the brain in consciousness, coming up out of the SKULL (Golgotha) then you reached heaven and if you don't, you recycle back into hell till the ANOINTING IN YOU (the blood of God consciousness) which acts like OIL taking you above the water you are, and removes you from the consciousness of the animate brain:
