Kacey Musgraves performing Merry Go 'Round live at the Royal Albert Hall in London, 18th November 2015, as part of the Country & Western Rhinestone Revue
It takes a special kind of musician to render a sold out crowd absolutely silent. Not to mention the fact she's not even in the US! What an incredible talent she is. I can't stop watching her play.
Just a person all alone with nothing but a guitar and a voice is the purest form of musical talent there ever can be. This is even better than the actual recorded song!
Was fortunate enough to be at this gig at the Albert hall ... absolutely tremendous ... ... great talent, her songs are so different to the average country stuff..
The English have superior music taste. She was many times bigger in the UK than she was in the States in 2014. She is the Dolly Parton of her generation, and she gets treated like dirt by American country radio.
If you ain't got two kids by 21 You're probably gonna die alone At least that's what tradition told you And it don't matter if you don't believe Come Sunday morning, you best be there In the front row, like you're s'posed to Same hurt in every heart Same trailer, different park Mamas hooked on Mary Kay Brothers hooked on Mary Jane And daddy's hooked on Mary two doors down Mary, Mary quite contrary We get bored so we get married And just like dust we settle in this town On this broken merry go 'round and 'round and 'round we go Where it stops nobody knows And it ain't slowin' down This merry go 'round We think the first time's good enough So we hold on to high school love Say we won't end up like our parents Tiny little boxes in a row Ain't want you want, it's what you know Just happy in the shoes you're wearin' Same checks we're always cashin' To buy a little more distraction Cause Mama's hooked on Mary Kay Brother's hooked on Mary Jane And daddy's hooked on Mary two doors down Mary, Mary quite contrary We get bored so we get married And just like dust we settle in this town On this broken merry go 'round and 'round and 'round we go Where it stop nobody knows And it ain't slowin' down This merry go 'round Mary, Mary quite contrary We're so bored until we're buried And just like dust we settle in this town On this broken merry go 'round Merry go 'round Jack and Jill went up the hill Jack burned out on booze and pills And Mary had a little lamb Mary just don't give a damn no more
Kacey, You have always inspired me, as well as Bro. Willy and Neil Young from the time I was in a band in the late sixties having not so much fun before Vietnam, but we need to move on and Reride the" Merry-go-round". I truly love you and your band so much, and share all your CDs with family and friends, who are now new fans. YOU AND THE BAND, GO GIRL, SO, MAHALO. We want to hear more of your great talent expressed. I am playing again my guitar and mandolin and piano, and harps again, because of you Your Fan, Forever, Dah KATZMAN
Fantastic live performance, Kacey! Touching at the highest level! If I had a 15-year-old kid I might have them review the video and lyrics and have them provide me with a sketch of their next 5-10 years of their lives and how they intend to avoid living the merry go 'round (dead-end lifestyles versus daily self-improvement is my interpretation of the song; Benjamin Franklin graded himself every day and I quote, "I was surprised to find myself so much fuller of faults than I had imagined"). You deserve a long and loud standing ovation for this one.
