I said goodbye to my beautiful wife today after losing her to breast cancer. While looking for music for her funeral, I came across this on an iTunes playlist she made in her final weeks. I had not heard it before, but it was like the warm hug I wanted but can no longer have from her. I know this song gave her strength and I feel like she left it for me. ❤️

The sadest thing ever is listening to this song and reading your heartbreaking stories in the comments below guys 😭....I'm really sorry for everyone's loss whatever it was 😢

As a 40 year old dude this song brings me to tears every time. For personal reasons it hits very hard. Very few songs out there that can do that.

This was sung at my daughters butterfly release. She committed suicide in June 2022. She suffered with depression. This was so beautiful. The weather was drizzly and after everyone left…one solitude butterfly few straight at us and then up into the sky. It was amazingly beautiful.

My 19 year old daughter played this during her battle with cancer and her mother and I played it again at her celebration of life this month as her storm ended on November 30th, 2023 at 5:20pm CST. The first time I ever heard this song, was while driving from the hospital. My little brother had just passed away from brain cancer. He was only 25 and only lived 3 month's after being diagnosed.This song always makes me think of him and others who have passed away from, or are fighting cancer.

Our 11 & 7 year old, Trinity and Zachary, died in a car accident a year ago and this week I asked for a rainbow. Less than 36 hours later a double rainbow appeared in the sky as I was driving to my mom’s. Then the icing on the cake was this song a few days later. We are so loved. 💜💙

I've been close to homeless since July of 2020. Luckily I've been couch hopping from friends places. I just got the call 30 minutes ago that I finally got approved for an apartment and the first thing that popped into my head was this song. I finally have a break in the storm clouds and my rainbow is shining like a beacon!

2 years ago our 18 year old daughter sat at our table and told us if she did away with herself we would only miss her for a month but get over it. She broke our hearts with this thought. My baby cousin Evelyn just passed in a school shooting in Nashville on March 27th, 2023. This was her favorite song. She was the brightest light on this earth.

I lost my first born at delivery. He would have been 17 this week. Has native background on his Dad's side, and his native name translates to Child of the Rainbow. When my husband left the hospital there was a rainbow overhead and was one over our house weeks after. We played this song at her celebration of life as people gathered outside for me to do a butterfly release in her honor (she raised and released 524 monarchs last year). I had never heard this song until tonight. I had the Grammy's on in the background at my place while I was working on something. I wasn't paying much attention, and then all of a sudden I can't help but notice this beautiful voice coming from the screen. I heard this song at an elementary talent contest tonight. It was beautiful and I cried like a baby. I have experienced a lot of life-altering trauma the last few years but my rainbow is my beautiful children. I didn’t tell them I was thinking this as I kissed their heads while listening to the song. Well, my empathetic, thoughtful little boy ran to his room when I got home and asked for me to play the song on RU-vid. When I started it, he came out of the room, dressed in his rainbow pjs. I picked him up and we danced in the living room. I haven’t felt this at peace in a long time. Thank you for the beautiful song and for reminding me what incredible rainbows are in my life.

Sometimes you wish a song could last forever

My mother made me listen to this the other day. I've been struggling thru a break up the past 2 weeks after being with who I thought was the love of my life for over 6 years. We sure a 15 month old son together. I work full time, I go to nursing school full-time, and now I'm doing it all alone while trying to raise my son. I've gone through so many struggles in my life especially in my childhood, and when my ex decided to dump me out of nowhere and told me he didn't love me anymore, I really fell into a depression and wanted to take my own life. Listening to this song and holding my son changed my mind. Thank you so much. ❤

Gonna get real honest for a second. I was severely depressed and contemplating suicide and this song literally helped me through it. The whole “Golden Hour” album did really. Listening to it felt as if Kacey was singing it directly to me. Just watching this video got me so emotional. Kacey Musgraves is an angel sent from above. From the very first time I heard “Merry-Go Round” I was hooked. Years later, she is still gracing us with her songs and finally getting all the Grammy awards she rightfully deserves. ❤️

This is just so emotional for me to watch. I came out to my family not long ago and this is one of the songs that helped me getting through the hard time. It just takes me back to two weeks ago when I went to see her in Montreal, I told her my story during meet & greet. When I was taking my husband to the fort a few weeks ago, before he really got deployed, this song came on. It was right after he talked about the beautiful colors of the sunset over the mountains, which I could only kind of see because I was driving, but I kept trying to look. Then this song started, and he reached out and grabbed my hand as we drove through the desert. And I started gulping through some serious tears because he kept telling me not to cry.
