@Creole Gaudet Sampling = the reason why younger folks look back into musical history.

@Creole Gaudet Should, shouldnt... that's not reality though. Sampling is an art within itself. If one believes it is simply stealing, that's more of an implication that they're not part of modern society and cannot understand many nuances of said modern society. Jazz made music from "sampling" the world around them. 100yrs later with the immersion of recorded music and radio stations that span many miles... recorded music is all around you. It's only 1 step forward that someone will take from that ether and put it to use. I remember when artists absolutely hated Hip Hop heads sampling their music... until they got those sampling checks and that new tour no one even thought about before the sampling of their music. Rap music is the main reason many older acts had a reason to get back on stage. I, personally, would have just a fraction of my musical exposure if it wasn't for sampling. Rap music gave me an real interest in what records were being sampled and why. It is what it is. It doesn't have to be everyone's cup of tea.
