Rebecca actually uses one of the actual rulings in real Yugioh here. What Yugi explains too, called chaining. Where if you chain cards together, it will resolve in opposite order. So by activating the trap that negates spells, then chaining the spell to it, her spell resolves first then the trap prevents any future spells from activating. It is the only time in the original series anyone uses this rule, and correctly and it is Rebecca of all people.

A weird thing with Rebecca in this arc is that she used a relatively realistic deck (Not a good deck, but one with a legitimate playstyle in mind). basically, Woman with a stick(or fire princess as the card is actually called) deals damage to the opponent whenever you gain life points, and her deck was based around stalling her opponent and dealing damage while gaining life points.

The last part with Kaiba is my favorite. It was so unexpected but, also very expected at the same time.

Kaiba's more of a rival, and I guess Bakura _is_ the best contender for being the nemesis as he's the final antagonist. Kinda iffy with how little he's done since Duelist Kingdom though

The "Haunted House of Adhesive Tape" is a joke based off a really old Yu-Gi-Oh! card called "House of Adhesive Tape"... its one of the first few trap cards that were ever released, and its about as useful as its name would imply. The artwork is very funny though, so people just remember it quite well because of that.

A pair of child sized gag characters knock out a tournament member and enter as him in disguise...didn't realize Gotenks was a duelist.

Believe me when I say, chain links are the least complicated part of the card game, and if you think that is confusing, you should hear the clusterfuck that is the steps of an attack.

Chaining is just straight up a actual ygo rule. Basicaly, whenever you activate cards or effects in response to other cards effects, they resolve in order last one first. So by activating Scapegoat in response to Royal Order she could dodge the effect of it because Royal Order didn't resolve yet and is thus able to exploit that to activate the spell. I like how this only instance of chaining in Duel Monsters is like, on a filler arc and done by Rebecca of all people.

Funnily enough Rebecca probably had the most competantly built deck in this arc Focussing on using stun cards to stop her opponent from playing, while she regained her life points and chipped away at her opponent's. Also keeping real card game mechanics like chaining cards to other cards in mind

The title is a play on bechdel test. A way of seeing if a movie or show uses woman in a sexist or sterotyical way or actually make good use of woman.

Chaining cards is actually a thing in Yu-Gi-OH, however, it was surprising because this Duel Rebecca had with Vivian was the first and only time they did it in the original series, so for those of use watching this was our first introduction to this mechanic in the last season. From GX onward they do show off chaining more as each following series had at least two or three instances of it, because after the original series the shows tried to be more like the real game, even if they would still do anime bullshit sometimes, but the other series did it a lot less then the original series so there better teachers for how to actually play the game then the first series. The crazy thing about the KC Grand Championships arc is that a lot of Duelists here actually follow the rules and use legitimate strategies, like Rrebecca with her Deck being an actual real-world Deck, not a top-tier one, but still, or like that Ddueling Robot from two episodes ago it also used some legitimate real-world strategies, again not top tier ones, but still real ones that require some skill. I still don't know why the writers choose this last filler arc before the final arc to actually start more closely following the rules, either they just didn't care enough about this arc to bother with anime bullshit or they cared so much they wanted to make the Duels mostly legitimate, it's impossible to tell. With how fun this arc has been, it's sad that we're almost halfway done with it. The KC Grand Championships arc is much shorter than the Virtual World and Oricalcos arcs, there are only five important Duels left and two of them happened at the same time, so most likely LittleKuriboh only has four more episodes left before this arc ends, which is good news for Bakura as it means he won't have to wait too much longer for him to finally begin the final arc.

The title is more of a play on "The Bechdel Test." A checklist for female characters in film. It's basically a feminist thing, if your movie failed the bechdel test it means your female characters talk about men for men etc. If you pass the bechdel test your female characters are theoretically more independent etc.

Yugi needing to explain to Joey and Tristain why Scapegoat could resolve in the presence of a trap that prevents spells from resolving is the actual conversation they were having in that scene. It is a bit silly for such a basic rule to be over their heads this far into the show, so he probly left it in there as just another way to make them look stupid by changing only the part where they were actually listening to them just tuning it out and only hearing "card games blah." You said you play Magic, so basically they didn't understanding stacking. It would be a like main character in an MTG anime asking, in episode 150, why this guy didn't lose 2 life for drawing with Opt after the other guy played Sheoldred.

The animation for the whole season is very off. It gets better for the nonfiller part, but that's when this arc is done. And yeah they actually explain the card mechanic in the show, and they actually get it right with the real card game.

Layman’s terms: when a card effect is activated, and when another card’s effect is activated, a chain is triggered in which the “last” card’s effect activated is triggered first. In other words-first effect activated is considered the last to take effect.

Okay, you know how people can activate Instant after Instant in Magic, and the card on top of the stack activates before all of the cards underneath that top Instant? Chains in Yugioh are like that, except you don't physically stack the cards before the chain resolves. You just have to remember the order of activation before activating in the exact reverse order.

In simple terms when a card activates in response to another’s the chain of effects gets resolved backwards starting from the last effect that was activated back to the first. Kiaba was the MVP this episode

What yugi was describing was "chaining", which is like the stack but less complicated. You & your opponent can activate cards in response to each other, when you do - the "chain" of effects resolves backwards, so the last effect activated happens first, the first one happens last. The joke is that rebecca used actual rules in the show and the show had to explain what was happening to the audience 5 seasons in.
