Muhammad Yasin محمد یٰسین (popularly known as کیفؔ عظیم آبادی Kaif Azimabadi) was born in شاہ گنج Shahganj mohalla محلّہ of Azimabad عظیم آباد , Bihar بہار , British India, on 8 June 1937. Azimabad is currently called Patna پٹنہ , and is the capital of the Indian state of Bihar. His father, Abdul Ghafoor عبدالغفُور , passed away while Yasin was young. After his elder brother Muhammad Luqman محمد لقمان immigrated to Pakistan, young Yasin had to financially support his family. He ultimately started a tailoring shop, where poetry and sewing went hand in hand. First he would sing poetry of famous Urdu poets, then he started composing his own poetry. His poetry teacher استاد (ustad) was Ramz Azimabadi رمز خیر آبادی (Raza Ali Khan علی رضا خان , c.1916 to 1997). He started participating in مشاعرے mushairas in 1954. His first mushaira was sponsored by انجمنِ ترقّیِ اردو بہار Anjuman Taraqqi-e Urdu, Bihar. He also participated in mushairas in Pakistan پاکستان and Middle East مشرقِ وسطیٰ . So, gradually poetry replaced tailoring as a source of income. In November 1979 he was seriously injured in an accident and for many months could not walk. He passed away on 24 January 1994, and is buried in the Shahganj graveyard of Patna. His collection of Urdu works include:
Sadaaon ke saaey صداؤں کے ساۓ (ghazals غزلیّات ), Angnai انگنائی (quatrains قطعات ), Apney lahoo ka rang اپنے لہُو کے رنگ (ghazals غزلیّات ), and Junoon-o aagahi جنُون و آگہی (quatrains قطعات ). His life and works have also been the subject of a PhD thesis.

A remark from the poet in this recording suggests that this ghazal was recited in a mushaira in دوبئی Dubai.
