We all know who Hoshina was actually saluting. Chief Shinomiya is a bit of a badass, isn't he? There are fairly reliable rumors that season 2 is already in production. I'm still reading the manga, though.
I literally just read that (reread after watching the episode) and for some reason it didn't register. Maybe because they're using "monster" instead of "Kaiju," I dunno.
