Kaiju no Kami Reviews - Denshi Sentai Denziman (1980) Series 

The Denziman Movie is one of the most underrated movies of the entire Franchise. It gave u the origin, great acting, a strong plot and great fighting scenes. That could‘ve been easily an entire Pilot Movie

This is easily the best "Marvel assist" sentai show, speaking of which anyone ever notice that Queen Hedrian helmet look like Hela from Thor

If they kept Princess Denzi in the show, they could've had a Toku sci fi Snow White premise. I mean you got Hedrian being an evil queen poisoning people. [especially pretty ones] Plus they got a hunts men & a mirror, now that's quite the parallel. Also a salute to the most manliest men that ever sung a Toku theme song.

You must admit the Denjiman's mentor is a very good boy.

To be fair it's possible that Banriki not doing much until the endgame was on purpose as offscreen he may have been setting up his plans to overthrow Hedrian and take over the Vader Clan.

The opening theme always reminded me of a funky Japanese cowboy theme, like a disco version of 'Rawhide'...regardless, it's a classic

Denziman is easily my favorite Sentai of the pre-Soda era. Idk what it is about Denziman, but this show has a really weird vibe to it. The show has a really mature vibe to but I don’t really know where to point at what exactly gives it that vibe, ig it’s the overall writing of the show and how much it improved from Jakq and BFJ. Overall I found myself agreeing with just about every point you made in this review and honestly think this is one of the most underrated shows in the whole franchise. Anyway my favorite episode was episode 40, the one where Akagi competes in the boxing match to save his friend from the Vader. Also this is one of the rare cases in toku where both the opening and ending songs are absolute bangers.

I wasn’t expecting one so soon you are miracle worker great dude overall :) Badass walk by denziman with the fire in the background as awesome music plays just great stuff with the villains, the episodes, music and main cast with recurring actors make this a great start to the 1980s.

Machiko Soga was a really talented actress. Queen Hedrian reminds me a bit of Rita Repulsa/Witch Bandora. Which is kinda ironic since Soga also played Bandora in Zyuranger. Also, Hedrian's design looks like Hela. (Thor's sister)

A hero is only as good as the villans they fight. Old school disney Marvel comic/mcu Dc animated universe Some anime ect.

Looking at the effects, they relied just enough on the Green Screen without overdoing it. The part where one of the rangers saves a girl from suicide and the Magic Carpet Ride while obvious Green Screen, it was done enough without breaking the feel of it. This was back when Green Screen was needed before shows today use it way too much especially in American Action films.

Not only did Kenji Ohba do his own stunts, he being a former suit actor on Gorenger before moving to regular roles did his own suit acting as Denziblue something usually not allowed after Hiroshi Fujoka injured himself filming the first Kamen Rider. Presumably it was okay'd because he was only one part of an ensemble cast and not the sole lead so if he was injured they could work around it. Once he became Space Sheriff Gavan (the lead and sole hero of the show) the next year he was notably NOT allowed to also be Gavan's suit actor.

Denziman. Would have loved to see the 1980s series of Super Sentai. Seems like Shout Factory does not seem to have confidence in any Super Sentai until just before Zyuranger.

I like the idea of the opening gag being a commercial for Denziman merchandise. Is that *actually* from an episode?

Mirror was her mirror, General Hedrer was her sword and Keller was her shield. Mirror, sword and shield.

Toei did consider following up Battle Fever J with more Spider-Man-type adaptations with the Hulk and/or the Silver Surfer. Ultimately, it was decided to stick with the team of heroes format and so Super Sentai continued with Denziman.

I haven't seen Denziman yet, but it has a really catchy opening. Also I'm happy to see that Machiko Soga (Bandora) played a villain role here too. There is the second Mecha of the Super Sentai series, standard but not bad at all. Foot soldiers here remind me of Shocker from first Kamen Rider series.

Denshi Sentai Denziman was a great show as it it gave more focus episodes on each of its characters.

The opening gag actually felt like a commercial for brand new 80s action figures.

Really enjoy the show it was fun, for me the best sentai show that doesn’t have long continuous plot in the sense that as police unit you deal with all types of criminals instead of one central villain who the main cause of all crime that is of course is dekaranger, dekaranger did it the best when it comes to this aspect and I really love that show.

I was 9 in ‘98, and it’s hard for a 9-year-old to get tired of something. 9-year-old me was as happy as a pig in shit whenever “Iris” came on. 😂 (You know who never got tired of “Wild Wild West? This guy!)

Watching the classic 2001 Space Odyssey movie would make almost anyone old by the time the movie finishes. Nothing wrong against those who enjoyed it or who considered it a classic film, but for me personally I felt the film was way too slow in its early half and it took forever during the second half with that computer system on the space craft. Or was this a different Space Odyssey they saw?

Vader was kinda interesting coz even How many times they failed they stuck together and became such depth during the final storyline. The Demon King had such an epic Introduction and i was dissapointed when he was just hanging around. But the revelation at the end of him and him taking over was epic

Hey Kaiju it’s been a while! Earlier last year I was fortunate enough to found all of the available fansubs of all previous Sentai Seasons on Archive and I’ve never had an easier time watching through all these so I’ve decided to rewatch the previous Sentai Seasons from the beginning and I’ve even finished Denziman for the first time! 👍 I won’t go much into Gorenger, J.A.K.Q or Battle Fever because despite watching these last month my thoughts on them haven’t really changed all that much since the first time I’ve viewed them. But these are my abridged thoughts when rewatching these. Himitsu Sentai Gorenger - it’s alright. I didn’t found myself enjoying much of the early episodes since a lot of them felt sameish and recycled. But I did enjoyed it more once it got to the second half as the episodes later on became more varied and not as recycled. J.A.K.Q Dengekitai - I liked it. I enjoyed it a bit more than Gorenger do to it’s short length, I liked the cast a bit more and I really enjoyed the early half of the episodes and wasn’t too bothered by the latter half though I still kinda wished it kept the same tone. Battle Fever J - It’s also alright. I didn’t really found the season to be that eventful and it was kinda boring in some parts, though I did like how it introduced Mech Battles as well as being the only show to have 2 people have power transfers. And as for Denshi Sentai Denziman It’s actually pretty good. Easily the best so far from the early entries as there were a good amount of episodes that I did like compared to previous seasons, the effects are mostly better than what came before, and I like how the team isn’t a part of a military organization, even the villains and monster designs I would say are also my favorite so far in the early series. I wouldn’t say this season is amazing as it kinda has similar problems that I have with the seasons written by Shozo Uehara that I might get into later when I finish Sun Vulcan. But Overall I’m glad I’m rewatching these and seeing where the series started and getting into later ones made me really appreciate the changes and additions to the later seasons. And I’m even more excited to see ones that I’ve never seen before! Wish me luck!👍

I will admit, Bidamalar was a sad Vader Monster because he was good until Mirror destroyed the Marble. There are questions I have questions as to what's the point of cutting the body in half when you've already cut off the head. Also isn't it still a mystery whether or not Princess Denzi is alive and whether or not Denjiman are Denzians

Technically that was Peggy although Akira was the first one to have it be a magical instant change where she gets the abilities of the costume and people have trouble recognizing her and other such such wacky tricks like being 3 people at once (though Mei in Zyuranger tops her by somehow becoming an entire crowd of nuns and making the whole population of a mall disappear)

I loved Battle Fever J, but found Denzi a real chore to get through after around Ep20. The Mecha battle was always over within about 2 mins with nothing more than a couple of hits then the full moon slash and stock explosion Great theme though....

I liked Denziman but the first half was bland. But After 20 Episodes and throughout the second half of the Season it became an instant favorite of mine. Shame that Jun and Midorikawa got backburned after episode 30/40 :( The 4 Part Finale hyped the sheet out of me.

Well I've to be honest I've not really seen much of this series. I've seen the movie change scene and that's about it. But I do have to ask because when Gokaiger used these suits it didn't really look different with some new effects here and there. But then when we saw Marvelous in Strongest Battle use the suit he got super speed I was confessed. Also speaking of Gokaiger I find it funny 2:43 and he still has all that later. 4:36 well if that's what you want you should live in the part of Illinois I live in because it's nothing but crap and the cops are useless so you could do that and not worry about crap. Also thanks for the Totally Spies clip I freaking love that show. I've got a few more things to say but first you reply then I'll say and ask more.
