CHEESE BURGER FREDDY pretty sure ui isnt a double edged sword it was just the first time his body couldn’t handle it but now in the manga but there doesnt seem to be any backlash on his body after using it but we will see in the next chapter of the manga :)
@Most Average Guy Ever Pretty sure it is because Super Saiyan with the Kaioken on top was a lethal dose of Ki so that is why Goku only used it with the peaceful ki control of SSJB. If Goku used kaioken instead of the super saiyan, he'd drain more Ki than SSJ (Cuz mastered ssj) and also he'd strain his body more than he needed to. Using Kaioken on top of any SSJ besides Blue would have killed him.
yo... when Vegeta was monologing in the TOP when talking about how Saiyans (and especially Goku).... and they did the whole throwback memory sequence.... I loved that shit!!!! (and you know my boi Vegeta will forever remember that asswhooping.... lol... 😎🤙)
Kaioken was always my favorite technique, especially since it made goku struggle a lot more to win a fight and not make it clear who would be the winner.
It pretty much always lost, except vs Nappa who lacked durability on vegeta, frieza or hit standards (it didn’t eliminate hit as he withdrew on purpose after). Super saiyan god looked like an at home version though ToP at least revisited it better than the dbz broly movie lol.
Captain Ginyu really was a prodigy when you break it down. He had no idea how to utilize Gokus body right away when he successfully body switched with him, but had slowly been learning how once he did. He even instantly knew that the Z Fighters had the ability to mask their Ki so they would be able to run around unnoticed by their scouters. Ginyu and Zamasu really are similar once you think about it, but Zamasu was just on a MUCH higher echelon than that of Captain Ginyu. But it was amazing to see Ginyu slowly becoming used to Gokus body and starting to hone into his powers.
Ginyu wasn't really a prodigy. It just boiled down to Krillin telling him how to access Goku's power. If he was a prodigy, then Krillin wouldn't have needed to tell him. Before then Ginyu didn't understand why he didn't have the power Goku used before.
@@decepticonxhunter4850not just that, but he never had a chance vs vegeta outside swapping bodies. Ginyu was a smart and honorable goon (don’t you interfere again Jeice let alone after body swap didn’t have jeice blast goku).
Dude, that picture of the monk on fire wasn't a technique. That was autodafe. That monk set himself on fire as a means of non-violent protest. Summary: That's a photo of someone killing themself.
I loved kaioken, for me, it was always like a powerful technique, but it gave some drawbacks to it. Like a risk reward type thing if you know what I mean. Great video!
Geekdom watching this video has brought back memories and watching you brings me joy and thinking back to when I first watched dragon ball z it scares me what happens after death I just want to say thank you for making these videos.
Man, I’ll never forget when Goku used the Kaioken fused with SS Blue against Hit for the first time. The way that they crafted that scene; the powering up of Goku, followed by the anticipation created by the moment of silence after he’s done powering up, before he utters the words. I had legit chills down my spine at that scene, all the nostalgia started pouring in! And then the scene where it starts playing the theme of the show while Goku and Hit fight, one of the greatest parts of the series for sure
Ah yes my favorite technique. I love the red aura, I love it's concept, and I love that despite it being a double edge sword, it can turn you into a glowing red badass with proper training ✊😤
man.... i absolutely LOVED the Kaiohken technique... the echo and reverb when Goku announced the Kaiohken was absolutely awesome!!! back in the day... you know shit was about to get real when he busted out the Kaiohken... 💯😎🤙🤘
Yeah if they were nuts they would just kaioken on and off all day long in each form and just super set stress their body , the zenkai boost multiplier is so insane and can be totally exploited. That would be a funny filler episode 🤣
I didn’t grow up with dragon ball so there’s no nostalgia. Kaioken is my favorite transformation because of the last resort aspect of it. The pure application of will power under pressure, win or die. Plus the red burning ki is just bad ass
Kaio-Ken is definitely one of the best techniques ever used in Dragon Ball. I like how it gives the user burst of increase strength while also coming with a serious drawback.
I've waited so long for this exact technique guide. Thank you so much for your hard work, research and commitment as always, Geekdom. While watching this video, I thought that the real life equivalent to the kaioken is a mixture of a full body pump along with sudden hysterical strength IF it had a mental switch. Another thought that came to mind was how the mind, body, spirit and ki all align in such a powerful way due to the skill of a fighter who can use it. Anyway, thanks again Geekdom!!! All the best dude!!!
Great video. Has far as the multiplier goes, I always thought Kaioken was 50% multiplier of your base strength, x2 was 100%, x3 was 200% etc. hence during his fight with Vegeta his power went from 8000, 12000, 16000, 24000, & 32000 at x4
I love all your videos sir, I would love a numbered facts video on certain characters! (Ex. 20 facts about Frieza, 50 facts about Vegeta) Not sure if you would be open to it but I think that would be so cool and informative. I would watch all of them! 🙌🏼 Thanks again for all the great content!
Something that people keep overlooking is that the Dragon Team got to King Kai’s planet during Goku’s trip to Namek. Where Goku had a year to train, his friends had mere days before they were resurrected. They did get stronger in their brief time there, but they didn’t have the time to learn everything else.
Great video! It is a very mind-body linked technique. When I was a runner after years I kind created something similar at least based on the same concept to finish races hard. Usually made me throw up at the end though :(
Always agreed with your statement that the Kaioken works amazingly well with Saiyans in general and Goku in particular. Would love to see a more detailed breakdown on if you think Kaioken also boosts the effects of zenkai. Awesome vid Brogeta. ~_~
Imagine how absurdly broken it would be if someone wished for immortality and learned the Kaioken. I know this isn't a new or original idea, but I like the thought of someone with the Immortal Kaioken combo taking full advantage of their immortal, constantly regenerating body to hit massive power boosts and completely overwhelm their enemy.
I always remembered Budokai 1 referring to the Kaioken (then known to me as the kay-o-ken... Thanks funimation) as the King Kai Fist and I always found it so weird yet interesting. As a kid I knew that King Kai was the one who taught Goku the technique so I assumed that the game just wanted to give it a simple name. Years later I'd find out it's actually just a translation lol.
I feel like piccolo could have made great use of the move, and especially cell. Could you imagine how nigh-unkillable he would have been using the technique? Any damage from kaioken could be regenerated during the fight.
It would be interesting if each kai had its own special technique that uses ki to multiply other stats ,If it were true I'd say the way it's worded the kaioken would be the general boost to all combat stats. It would be cool if another kai boosts things like just mental stats,Speed stats & power stays exponentially.
I remember seeing Chi-Chi using the Kaioken in three episodes. We even saw Bulma use something that looks like a Super Saiyan aura when she was arguing with Chi-Chi.
great content as always, subbed! I always thought what would happen if Goku's body wasn't capable of using Kaioken then it would be like that fight in the Buu arc when Goku unleashed a little of his full energy to Yakon and he just exploded lol.. Also my theory on that fight: I think he used a bit of SSJ3 energy.. dunno why but I thought when the light protruding from his body, his eyebrows looked like SSJ3 for a bit.
Wow! You really outdid yourself with this technique guide on Kaioken! God job and was really a great listen. Cudoos to the artists for some of those pictures
My favorite part in this video in this video is 9:23. Throughout the years of my experience through sports I grew up playing. I remember doing excessive amounts of Meditation and Painful Training from Gymnastics, Weightlifting, Swimming, General Ed PE, ROTC Athletics, Paris Island Mini Bootcamp from the Marine Corps, and Martial Arts class. I remember suffering from hard strains though my body. How was I able to recover in less than a day? Answer I would do a very excessive amount stretching my body from head to toe, sometimes I stretch while I sleep. If I was feeling sore in my body. Whenever the pain sensors go off in my body I would sit up, keep my eyes closed, stretch my arms, legs, and my back. After when I am done stretching I would go back to bed and sleep. That way the pain can go away and help me sleep well. I can even meditate in my sleep. I was heavily inspired by a bunch of Comic book and Manga characters like Batman, Goku, Naruto, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, and so many more. Overall I really enjoy this cool video.
After reviewing both I’d also pick the 8 Gates. The first two gates have to do with health and recovery. Gates 3-8 also give more powers but otherwise boost your chakra. Without the drawbacks of damage, repeated use will make your base level of chakra bigger and be able to equal the Kaioken. They’re also stated to boost everything else, meaning you’re better at everything!
I legit believed that The Kaioken didn't increase Defense/Durability. But the 4:15 clip proved Me otherwise. Some people just didn't bother telling about this particular scene and thus I was led down a rabbit hole of thinking it didn't increase Durability besides the other offensive oriented abilities.
I'm a bit late to the party but you mentioned the scaling of the Kaioken. In the SNES RPG Legend of the Super Saiyan, the plain Kaioken was a 1.5 multiplier. Kaiokenx2 was 2x, K3 was 3x and so on up to 20 (the game only goes to the Frieza Saga).
Kaio-Ken is a wonderful technique that should set examples for techniques, in my opinion. Risk and reward moves/power ups are wonderful scene setters and great ways to show just how powerful characters can become if they can power through the risks.
Jessica Zane the kaioken principles are “raising your Ki and amplify in heartbeat” with any amount of multiplier but in goku his max is 20x of all his senses. So when he mixed it with with SSB is basically having a gun but adding attachments and making it stronger and effective
@@el_felkx8822 yeah but in the cell saga he trained super saiyan to feel like he was in base. I feel like he could've used super sayain with kaioken if he wanted.
12:23 super zenkai boosts (you said this later for saiyans) from kaioken on top of combat damage. I know that Naruto chakra gate of life with rock Lee turning red, was probably inspired.
Why you gotta talk about muscles getting thicker RIGHT after talking about the fifth limb. Now I just have this image of Goku shouting “KAIOKENNNN!!” when making gohan or goten. Thank you geekdom, very cool
Question: Do you think Vegeta will go back to Yardrat to learn other techniques, or similarly learn how to be taught by others while also doing it his way?
Kaioken is the most badass technique in dragon ball in my opinion. Ultra instinct is cool and all but there's something about the Kaioken that Ultra Instinct cannot replace.
buddy, geekdom, been a fan a long time … king kai is a perfectly fine translation of kaio-sama. “kai” referencing a way to say world, “o” meaning king, and -sama being an honorific denoting goku’s reverence and respect for king kai, and doubling down on the “o” portion.
