Join us as we continue to explore the Nelson Tasman region of New Zealand, reunited with our Kiwi friends from Rotorua! From our base in Kaiteriteri, we were central to everything and our accommodation was within walking distance to the beach.
Since we were visiting in June during the Winter Solstice we decided to celebrate the shortest day of the year with a polar plunge in the ocean!
After warming up, we took a short but scenic drive to the nearby town of Mapua Wharf. When we arrived we were greeted with numerous shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants. You could also take a ferry from here for a tour of the nearby Rabbit Island!
We spent the afternoon enjoying the town and then treated ourselves to some yummy ice cream. Once we were back home, we had another delicious dinner together.
The next day, we drove to Lake Rotoiti which is located in the Nelson Lakes National Park next to St Arnaud. The region is an enchanting alpine landscape of rugged peaks, forests and stunning glacial lakes.
We enjoyed a beautiful hike through the woods and then walked back along the lake for a picnic lunch on the jetty. Talk about the perfect setting! We even saw some native eels swimming in the waters below.
On our last day together we drove to Nelson to visit Pic's Peanut Butter World. From humble beginnings in the local markets, they have grown to become New Zealand's best-loved peanut butter and now export products around the world. We took a tour behind the scenes and enjoyed some savory samples along the way.
After saying goodbye to our friends, we were invited to visit a wonderful family residing near Motueka on a riverside farm. We had a delicious meal with them, enjoyed playing table tennis and tasted Persimmons and Feijoa fruits for the first time!
Kaiteriteri is simply beautiful with golden sandy beaches and clear water. It's the perfect place to lay back and relax all year round!

I don't know whether there any possibility of you becoming Kiwis but from those of us blessed to have a home here the open hand is always extended to others who want to become one of us. Since others have suggested music to sway you try "Welcome Home" by Dave Dobbyn, a legendary Kiwi music icon. Beautiful sentiment to those seeking a home in NZ.

Awesome upload guys, and so glad you made it to Nelson Lakes/St Arnaud, one of my favourite parts of the country, and Lake Rotoiti is such a magical spot, summer and winter, especially when those mountains are snow capped. Good to see you shot over to Mapua as well, and a drive over to Rabbit Island would be worth it,especially in the summer months,as there are so many spots you can drive around the island. It's also a good spot to look South East back to Richmond,Tahunanui, and Nelson. Well,if you guys decide to move here,I don't think you'll regret it,after all,it's really not too much different than Canada,I should know, having lived there for 7 years, before coming home.

Best to peel persimmons first, but they can be slippery, and cut the feijoa in half and scoop out the flesh with a spoon to eat. Feijoas are ready to eat when they drop from the tree. But you've probably discovered that by now. I just started watching these videos, very enjoyable.

Great to see where you went after Queenstown, was feeling sorry for you being stuck there over winter. I lived there for four months at the end of winter and it was dire. I worked for Mountain Scene, or mounting scream, as the locals called the local paper. Was there before leaving to travel overseas for 10 years. So cool to see you guys having a great time with friends in New Zealand. Love, love, love Pics peanut butter.
