Adding Chen is going to be great for UConn. She’s a proven winner and a baller. With one year left she can come in help take off some pressure of the freshmen and sophomore… they can learn from her as they progress. The young Huskies are the face of the future and playing behind experienced players as the vets move on will help them in the long run. There’s always a silver lining to everything. 🎉🎉

Long time listener, first time commenting. After hearing the comments from the previous video I had to comment. To anyone saying we dont need Chen must not have spent time watching her play. I remember a few years back when they played UCONN....Chen had like 18 points and few other players surrounded her did well and we only won by a few.... She IS special! Just wait yall until you see how quick she is and how she can take over a game. If she comes off the bench in November, she will be starting by December when the system clicks. Shes KK fast forward 2 years. KK is going to learn so much from her. We all know KK is our future PG and she will have learned from Muhl and Chen on floor leadership from WNBA bound talent. Lets go!!

@prorespluscom Do you actually think (coach) this man is gonna go deep into his bench? Knock it off? Last season, they basically had seven players. When conference play began, you would think he would include Q and Ice in the rotation consistently to prepare them for the tournament. You couldn't know which games they were going to play or just sit 🤔 poor Inez. They could have run through the Big East schedule with their eyes closed. Now the roster is loaded, you actually think coach is capable of developing a deep roster like we have seen done at South Carolina. I'll believe it when I see it.

I think this is a good pickup for UConn. I think it improves the backcourt. It is also not a surprise. UConn has been working on the Chen acquisition since at least February. I do think this puts a ton of pressure on Geno. He needs to rotate his guards. If Shade and/or KK lose a ton of minutes this season. It will be because Geno was not able to successfully balance an embarrassment of riches with his backcourt. UConn fans seem mixed on the add. I would say support her. She is a husky now. She is talented. She deserves support from the fans.

@captain0310
@captain0310 5 месяцев назад
All those people who hated Chen signing, it's called insurance, st***d. Over the last four years, one thing that Geno learned was that you can't have enough quality bodies. Chen is Lou 2.0 and she is an upgrade and better than KK and Shade who still need to develop. KK and Shade were starters last year by default and certainly made contributions, however, due to fatigue and inexperience, their quality of plays was average to below average during the tournament. Competition is good and it's a good test of character for all the players except PB. Like South Carolina, UCONN needs bench players coming in and scoring a bunch of points.

Okay, Chen handles the ball pretty well, not unlike Bettencourt or K.K. She doesn't do a lot of impressive passing, but she doesn't make many mistakes either. She isn't so fast or tall, so her break-away fast break isn't as devastating as one would normally want. Her iso one-on-one offense is the mid-range shot, so finding open spaces a strong part of her skill-set. Her defense is good, but her speed and size are not so impressive. Don't expect her to be like Paige on defending a guard. Overall, decent, competent, consistently so, but not stellar.

Still not sure if I understand the portal correctly. I know that players have to enter their name in the portal by 1 May. What about players already in the portal, do they have to make a decision by 1 May also or can they drag it out? If they can drag it out that seems highly unfair. I.E. since us UConn fans are hoping for another big what if a player waits until after 1 May to make a decision. That means UConn players who are waiting patiently cannot enter the portal until the next period. Just doesn't seem fair. As for Chen, IMO to many fans are concerned about KK's minutes and the injured players coming back MPG. That is all for Geno and coaching staff to figure out. If Staley can manage minutes, Geno should certainly be able to also. I for one, to not feel that KK is ready to take over the #1. The Chen Commitment can only help KK and more importantly help the team which it is all about. Ash is also going to have to make an adjustment. Also to many of you giving up on Caroline. IMO if she was not coming back that announcement would have come out by now. Seems like to many have forgotten how she carried this team for a stretch before the concussion issue started.

I think people are paying too much attention to "guard play" as a title. In women's college ball exceptionally tall players are a rarity (kamilla Cardoso). Most teams bigs on average are 6-2 to about 6-4. Paige has proven that a 6'0 player can play the 1-4 in women's ball. Geno will coach all the players with the exception of Paige, shade, kk, fudd and chen to be hybrid 2-4 position players. If this team stays healthy all season with this kind of offensive fire power they are going to average 90 points a game with ease.

I don't think this has anything to do with needing another pg or replacing a lesser sg... I think this is about the leadership group within the team.. By "losing" Nika and to an extend Aaliyah the team lost most of its leadership , effectively its just Paige (I know Azzi and Aubrey are seniors as well, but they are not leadership personalities).. Paige at the two or at the point is still Paige in the game. If Paige plays shooting guard, she will attract the other team's defense, this frees up other players. However, Geno's experience with an injury-riddled team over the last two years, makes Chen an insurance policy against injuries, Chen will be an immediate impact player. The two freshman guards coming are unproven players at the college level, potential doesn't always equal results, for example, DeBerry. Geno's so-called problem of having too many guards is a luxury problem, this team would be able to play small or big particularly if they can recruit Beers, but Jana El is going to surprise people, the combination of Jana/Strong will be fun. I’m really baffled about this segment. Neither one of you guys mentioned AZZI,what is up with that????? I hope it’s only a touch of amnesia. REALLY????

@@arthur-ri4zo Azzi's defense when we last saw her was tied to her injury. She couldn't jump well and that affected her shooting. She has to get back into her top form somehow.

Chen is a PG not a Guard,,, she is replacing Nika and sharing time with the other PG... KK

She's somewhat in the same situation as K.K. coming in with a lead role. She has to learn to run the UConn offense, she has to find a way to assist and shoot (probably 3s and mid-range) and mostly learn the defensive system. It will take some time. KK and Ash learned it very quickly, so Chen should be able to do it too. Maybe she'll blossom and be a better all-around player after about 5-10 games. I don't expect her to be a leading scorer -- again, much like KK at the start of last year.

@@markhathaway9456 Same way they did with Lou Senechal over 1 summer... worked out great... Plus Chen's coach was Carla Berube an ex_Uconn player and is in contact with Geno regularly... she knows what it takes as a player ad to play for UCONN or she wouldn't had recommended Chen

Whose to say we have too many guards, Dan Stealey prove to everybody that you can never have too many. When are we people going? Shut up and pay attention on what proven winners do , DAWN STALEY showed you what too much talent can produce

I don’t like the move. We are stacked with guards. She’s not all that great of a shooter. Ave from 3. We needed 2 experienced bigs.
