This most likely references The Berlin Wall this was before Attack on Titan please do your research of dates and popularity before you comment something that's probably not true
Over the years, I've liked many vocaloid voicebanks better than V1 Kaito - however this song stuck with me as a parable about how no matter what things trap us away from the world, there is always a way of sending out that message that could tell someone "I'm here". We have history as technology and so many ways to help us in our darkest moments. I actually first heard this song over a decade ago, when this translation was first uploaded. Artists and songs have come and gone; be it better or worse or more famous or less famous - but I do think this one shaped my awkward teen years more than I tend to give it credit for.
I have a weird thing for cute robot/android characters(such as Mega Man, Astro boy, ec.) and the little robotlike guy in this video was definitely something I took a moment to go "Awww" at.
Oh, that's an interesting interpretation. The song writer says it's based on a far away future where there is no machines left (aside from Dad's secret stash). But your version seems to fit too ^^
Isn't it ironic that Crypton said that Hatsune Miku and the other Vocaloids are supposed to be singing androids from the future where all music had been lost?
I always love Kaito. To my mind, he's the best vocaloid forever. I love him since 4 years & no one of vocaloid took his place in my heart. I don't know why, but his voice makes me feel happy or sad and he's the only.
As soon as I heard this song and saw the video, it was an instant favorite. There's just something about it that seems powerful. Plus, little robo-Kaito is so cute!
And here I am, more than a year after my comment on this video. I came across this song one year ago when I was quite new to Vocaloid and I was searching for Kaito songs because I really liked his voice. This is one of the songs that made me the hardcore Kaito stan that I am, and I think that this might be one of my favourite Vocaloid songs of all time. It has a beautiful melody, sure, but my favourite part are the lyrics. They're beautiful words put into music, words of hope, freedom, peace. In my old comment I stated that this song reminded me of Attack on titan, and it's kind of true, even though it's obvious that this song didn't take inspiration from it since back in 2009 AoT was barely starting. But now that I re-read the lyrics after this time, they remind me of the Berlin Wall too, and on a more general level, of war, which destroys people and divides families, but these people who are caught in these tragedies often light up a new light of hope. This song hits hard and it isn't just "SO GOOD" like I mentioned in my old comment. In my opinion, this is a great masterpiece, a true hidden gem, since I've never noticed anyone in the fandom talking about it, and that's sad because songs like this that touch this deep themes should be more famous. Also, can I also add that I'm in love with the PV? Especially the colors, I love the shade of blue they used. Thank you hokorichan for translating this and a huge thanks to the producers who made this masterpiece of a song. Y'all deserve more spotlight

@pwned31904 When I hear this song it makes me think of the Berlin Wall,It was already down when I was born but my motehr told me stories about it.She and her paretns (who lived in west germany) were completely cut of the rest of her family (who lived in east germany)
I understood the beginning then my tired brain took over and didn’t let me process any of the other words my eyes looked at Plz someone explain the story so I know what I didn’t understand
Fangirling109 From Vocaloid Wiki: This song tells the story of a young boy (KAITO), who lives in a post-war town surrounded by humongous walls. It is forbidden for people to go outside the wall, therefore he was always told to remain inside, and grew up alone. Years passed and the boy grew into an adult, and received word that the "father he didn't remember had died" as a result of the war. In his will, the boy was left a key that came with a mysterious message, which lead him to a "forbidden art". The art was in reference to music, which was forgotten by the walled city and he discovered it through a small, old radio. The radio was held in the arms of a humanoid doll that "wore the face of him as a child". The doll follows only the commands of its master, so the boy ordered his doll to "go where that voice grows stronger", in reference to the radio held in its arms. The doll "nodded and effortlessly flew over the wall". Every passing day, the man stays and waits for the morning the doll will return, in hopes its voice will reconnect with the world.
