In this video we will look inside of the KAIWEETS KM601 and look at the battery drain of the large display. The previous video we did take some time to go through the meter and look at many of the functions, but the video became so long I decided to make a separate video for the look inside and current draw testing. I bought this multimeter lastnight for $39.10 from kaiweets website at 15% off, First I watched about 10 fluke owners test all it's readings, modes, response times, accuracy, quality, etc, it's pretty much dead on and definitely a good buy when it comes to price to performance, would recommend based off the extensive testing/results I've seen.

Well you can't go wrong for 40 bucks but what I'm amazed looking at the inside is the scarcity of parts. It's almost bare bones PCB compared to Fluke and Brymen especially with parts on both sides. Makes me wonder are all these parts just smokes and mirrors or maybe antiquated design? Could this el cheapo design be superior?

Have you seen the new ts600y supposed to have a better lcd view and but 6000 instead of 9999count of course cheaper price but seems abit slimed view guts wondering how better is it aside from the lead placement

The lead placement and aslo the function select being able to go left and right is handy instead of having to go all the way back around.

I enjoyed the look inside, thanks for the disassembly. At some time could you do a video on cleaning and aligning the Zebra strips (or Elastomeric connectors). My 2 fluke meters are the worst especially the old fluke16 thanks

Thanks for your comment. I have a couple videos with fluke meters and I know I at least talk about the elastomeric strips and clean them with high percentage IPA. I know sometimes the elastomeric or zebra strips get old and hard and you have no choice but to order new ones for it. Great review and good look at the inside of the meter. Considering it does so much it's amazing how little parts are inside. Compare this to Fluke and Brymen and they are bulging with tons of parts inside. I can't help but wonder why they contain so many parts and do they do anything or are they all smokes and mirrors or possibly even antiquated design? This Kaiweets seem to be so streamlined in design with a scarcity of parts. Could it be that it's even better designed than Fluke and Brymen?

Would this be a good meter to keep on stand by for rare use or would it kill batteries just sitting for longer periods- more so than say a craftsman multimeter or a plain lcd DMM?

It has an extremely low current drain while off. It will last very long in storage. If you do desire more of a selector switch style meter you may like the HT118A or similar meter. These are excellent meters for the price especially for putting in the glove box etc. to always have with you. How many days does the battery last? How many days in standby mode?

Well at 3:05 I mentioned that it would run over 40 hours at the 30ma we tested with 1200mah batteries as an average. At 15 min auto power off it would last around 160 uses. That's as far as I tested this one.

normal carbon display how milli amp consume like fluke ? i want to see difference both meter amp consumption

Meter with plain LCD will draw much less current of course. The backlight will draw some extra current if turned on. The OLED display meters eat up batteries very quickly which is why they are not used much. This Kiaweets KM601 does an excellent job to me being nice and bright with still acceptable current draw to give decent battery life. Sorry I did not think to compare in this video. Can the fuses be replaced just incase they blow up and are they available locally?

Hi, They can be replaced easily and they are 6x32mm 250V rated fuses current rated 10A and 600mA. They may not be locally available in all areas. Not hard to find online though. Hope it helps!

I do like the Kaiweets meters and the display is nice on these. I have never gotten used to the push button DMMS in general. I still like using it at times though. I also like the cheaper selector switch style Kaiweets also. They are excellent for the money.

If you are asking how long the batteries last in the Fluke? It is a great while with the plain LCD display. I believe without the backlight on the Fluke 87V for example gets over 400 hrs of use on the AA batteries.

why they call it smart whaen i have to chage manually to capacitance and diode mode they should do a full smart auto detection like metrahit29s or testo 771-3 one same chip so its easy to identify component in circuit especiallyu smd smallest one

Those are excellent Meters you list here for certain. Some of the best money can buy. I think the biggest difference here is the price point and I was simply looking to share a good hobby meter that works well for the price of around $45. I would never try to truly compare one to Fluke, Metrahit or Testo which are top of the line. I do feel like the Kaiweets is great for someone just getting into electronics and it works very well for someone at the work bench.
