I miss the pre-Hasbro cards days too. It quickly became a "Chase-the-Shiny" investment hobby instead of a card game. But, it was inevitable. Greed seemingly always wins.

The Chandra was preordering for $60 non-foil. I remember, because I pulled it on pre-release day. It immediately fell to around $20, but I had managed to trade it for a foil wasteland from eternal masters before it happened.

This is crazy that this is a throwback. I remember you discussing Kaladesh when it came out.

Current prices - NM KLD Chandra foil: $9.24 NM KLD Chandra non-foil: $1.99 I paid $31 each for non-foils in 2017 (around $40 today).

This is a very nostalgic video since most of us that play now are from, before the shiny era. Love going back to Kaladesh with all those Artifacts. Especially Saheeli Rai is such a pretty piece of art as well. KEEP STAYING PAWZITIVE RUDY

Ah, the good Lady C. Those were the times. I still like them. Decent card quality, not half the pack filled with non-standard frame cards, but all good stuff. Thanks to all the reprints prices crashed on almost all of them, just a handful are currently $10 or more. Btw - we got about 200 boxes on offer on the European "version" of TCGplayer, i.e. cardmarket, plus eBay and all that.

My two cents. Card print quality from Europe is kilometers (sorry, miles) higher than in the US. The printing in Belgium is done by Carta Mundi, which is head and shoulders above the competition.

As of 4/15/24 there are 62 boxes of Kaladesh for sale. Though I think 20 of those boxes are priced $150 more than the $350 price point you were mentioning.

Great memories with this set. Went to prerelease with my now wife, she pulled a masterpiece Cataclysmic Gearhulk. Next pack, masterpiece Sword of Light and Shadow.

That first box was insane

The second prerelease I had during that part of my life when I started to attend events at LGS was with that set. I found Torrential Gearhulk foil as promo card. For sure it was the block that got stuck in my memories of that time above all else. Lovely times. Set is artifact-focused (which is a good thing long term), it has enemy fastlands (1st of 69 iterations), vehicles, energy mechanic that after years is FINALLY being supported (I guess people at wotc up until now were having recurring nightmare about attune w/ aether, marvel, cub and that beautiful bristling hydra you have unpacked... lol). And then, the Masterpieces, the lottery cards. Shiny sweet descent into madness! Those were the times when wotc was setting things up to shape the new product as we see it nowadays. I hate to say it and I hate to acknowledge it, but to me that's the truth. One that despises the nowadays' countless card variants simply cannot enjoy those 2-set blocks during those years. Look at the art even, main subject is awesome yes but focus on the backgrounds: shallow, bland, with cgi/image manipulation abuse creeping in

I loved standard at this time. 4x Torrential Gearhulk in a UR control deck. 😂

I went back to physical magic last year when Lotr came out. and bought my first kaladesh gift box last year In the first booster I opened I got a Mana vault. I really miss old Magic. the very best.

I'm a little confused with the sorcery box in the beginning… It says first edition 36 packs. Alpha was 39 packs and beta, which is 36 packs, doesn't say first edition on it. 🤔

we really had it good, i miss the days a single variant of booster's, no SET boosters , no COLLECTOR boosters, no PLAY boosters, no JUMPSTART, no DRAFT boosters, no THEME boosters.... just a single booster product where you could get all the cards from.

I feel like after this unboxing Rudy and all of us who knew this era all felt a little depressed together 😢
