Kalasipalya Mutton Chakna is famous non-veg food street in Namma Bengaluru. All the items sold here are spare parts, and organ meat of lamb/goat that is cooked over charcoal.
This Indian barbecue hub offers more than 9 different items. While Mixed items are sold at Rs 200 and above single items are sold for Rs 100. They sell gizzard, liver, spleen, testicles, heart, intestinal tube, and all spare parts of lamb are sold here.
This Chakna hub is opposite the Kalasipalya market area and is walkable from the Kalasipalya bus stand. The shops in this area open from 11am and go on till 10.30pm. The shop where we shot this youtube video is looked after by Mr Shankar who was kind enough to permit us to shoot and explained about the different items sold.
When the meat is cooked over charcoal it gives a unique taste to the items is what the patrons of this chakna adda say. The special chutney they use to cook the mutton items is made of tons of green chilies, ginger and garlic. They use a stone grinder to make them into a coarse paste.
It is said that Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth, Challenging Star Darshan fondly called Dboss, action hero Duniya Vijay, Kannada comedy actor Sadhu Kokila and other film actors used to visit the area regularly in their initial days of career. Now, if they wish to taste the items, they call the cooks to their houses it seems.
Even though the area falls short of hygiene and does not have many facilities, people throng the area. Comment below if you have visited the area.
