Amazing review, been using a Joe Classic 1 for a while and found this wondering; "why do I need this charcoal basket? what does it do?" You summed it up in 5 sec for me at the beginning of the video, the rest was just for more learning, thanks!
Thank you Jack for your helpful video! I was wondering if I should take out the existing cast iron plate with holes in it to utilize the additional air flow possibbilities when having the basket. Your video shows it can (or maybe even should) be taken out.
Hi I have the big joe and got the cover from them for $119 about 8 months ago falling apart, fading, red band went to pink to white to falling apart it’s a disgrace my wife said put a 50 gallon garbage bag over it
Sorry to hear that, mine is about 18-24 months old and it stays outside (under pool screen) and the red ban has faded some but not much. Contact KJ directly, it can't hurt.
Not aware of that brand but I did consider a Green Egg and the big difference was the KJ comes with everything you need to start smoking and grilling. With the Green Egg you must buy accessories plus KJ is a lifetime warranty. Appreciate your comment and thank you for watching.
I haven't seen this issue but ensure your basket is all the way down, you may have to turn it a couple of inches left or right for the basket to lineup properly.
@@JackHunnicutt thanks for taking the time to answer. I figured out what I was doing wrong. I had placed the basket in after placing the flexible cooking rack in. Once I placed the basket first, my problem was solved.
I am having the same issue with my Classic II, but I think I first need to define what I mean by lowest position. To me, it’s the bottom-most ring of the divide and conquer rack. The hooks on the charcoal basket actually come up above this ring - it’s the ring that is used to pull the basket out. My deflector plates are too big to get past the hooks so that the the plates can lie flat on lowest ring. Are we talking about the same lowest position? Or are you setting your deflector plates on the X accessory rack, which to me would be the middle position? Thanks a lot - very informative video. I just bought my Classic II and am still trying to figure out how to set it up.
