Biden dropped out late, the donations strongly focused on one candidate, and said candidate is the standing Vice President. I'll also mention that DT's strategy with his VP pick, among other things, of going far right leaves us an opening to pick up more centrist voters, who Kamala's record should be more attractive to. The more I hear and see since Biden's dropped, the better I feel about Kamala's strength as a candidate, so it appears the Democratic elites and donors got this one right for the most part, at least.

Primaries have nothing to do with democracy. Primaries are a *party process,* not a government one. A century ago there were no such thing as primaries. Half a century ago they were the exception, and today there are states that have no primaries. THE MAJORITY of party candidates throughout U.S. history have been nominated without a primary. And yes, parties have ALWAYS chosen presidential candidates. When you vote in a primary you are nominating a candidate, not electing one. That's what the conventions are for. Getting upset about this very unexceptional circumstance is weird.
