Kamen Rider is always been dark since day one. I mean most Showa era season tend to focus on the story of a lonely warior who is on a roaring rampage of revenge again a Nazi-esque underground organization that turn him into a killing machine complete with tons of body horror being involve despite the cheesy & campy tone that thoses seasons had Early heisei season in particular start out as an edgelord phase of the franchise in the early 2000 where people are kill left & right with a heavy emphasis on drama & shock value until Den-O comes in and start to make the franchise shift into the more goofy & comedic feel that the modern season had Despite being more lightharted, i would argue that some of the modern season tend to get dark when it want to. Yes, we have season like W, OOO, Fourze, Wizard, Ghost, Saber, & Gotchard that tend to be lightharted. But then we also get seasons like Gaim, Ex-Aid, Build, Zero One, Revice, & Geats that lean on the more darker & edgier teritorry. (I mean Gaim itself is by far the darkest modern rider season we got till this day to be honest thanks to the writer being the same guy who write Madoka Magica, and we all know how dark that show is)

Besides kamen rider, some anime/manga is meant for younger audiences but they are real brutal. Just look at aot which is aimed at teenagers. It seems more seiner than shonen

This Kamen Rider early 2000s were TV-14 RATED version.

First time, when I start to watch Kamen Rider, I watched Double. First second and somebody was already dead from the gun shot! In the end the show made me cry because final scene was so strong! And then I start to watch the first ever Kamen Rider... This thing is a wacky horror where everyone dying (sometimes hilariously) by various ways but kids there are gods who can't be killed, but can be hypnotized, beaten, kidnapped, lose their blood (I mean their blood was sucked)! So yeah, best kids show ever! Also manga and anime are really sus for a kids show. Look at Fuuto PI for example. Because it's only anime example :/
