If I'm not mistaken, only in Melaka u can see colourful and fancy design tiles at the stairs of a traditional malay house. Other states have plain stairs
if only kampung bharu,kl is preserved like this..though it is also Malay village..but i think it is both distinctive. The most significant identity of traditional Malacca Malay houses are the decorated stairs..
At the end of your travel in Malaysia you'll see how much weight you gain 😂😂 malaysia is all about food. Even Malaysian very proud with our delicacies.
If im not mistaken the clay oven where they bake the chicken in is called a Tandur. Thus, called tandoori chicken. The redness comes the chilli powder they use to marinate the chicken.
Things that make Kampung Morten is so special is that that's the only village in the middle of the city. Kampung Morten also surrounded by Melaka River.
It is mint chutney that goes with tandoori chicken. Tandoori mean clay oven....in a way you are right the chicken were marinated with multiple arrays of spices. Places of interest 1. Kampung Portuguese for Dinner 2. Umbai seafood with the best nasi lemak bungkus. 3. British fort nearby a chinese cemetery. Right in the middle of Melaka nearby Portuguese settlement.(i forgot the name) nearby police headquarter. 4. Asam pedas of all kind near Mahkota. 5. Hawker stall by the beach
The whole stretch of sea between Sumatra Indonesia n the Malay Peninsular is called the Straits of Malacca. That show how big the Malacca sultanate back in the day.
Along the melaka coastline north of Melaka city there are many chalets run by locals that cater to the Malay tourists who are budget conscious..some are ok some are bad...if you have time....id recommend you try Taming Sari Beach Resorr which is actually just two beachfront chalet bungalows that mimic a old Malacca wooden house...
What an incredible mosque... I think Melaka gets a lot of tourists from Singapore, but now that the borders are shut down...it probably explains the lack of tourists.
The village is named after a British land revenue collector during the British Malaya, Frederick Joseph Morten. The area used to be a quiet place during the 1960s and 1970s. The area was then evolved to become a tourist attraction since it was declared a heritage village under Malacca's Preservation and Conservation Enactment in 1989. Hey guys, thanks for exploring this part of Malacca in this video. You know what, so many visitors all over the world, when they visit Malaysia, most of the highlights by visitors are always about modern buildings, anything that’s Chinese, anything that’s Indian, anything Islamic is always Arabic-influence, and beaches. Multi-culturalism in Malaysia works quite differently compared to most other countries but somehow it made me pretty sad that if those visitors really know where to explore, they will discover; 1. all different kinds of the original inhabitants in this country such as different Malay architectures and customs and foods in diffferent states, 2. very interesting and unique cultures of the Orang Asli tribes (in modern day Malaysia) in Pulau Carey and Tasik Banding 3. The Malay Traditional Naval architectures and still-alive traditional boat making in Terengganu and other smaller ports 4. The traditional games, music, performances and big events that are very much alive and exist among the Malay and other smaller tribes communities all over Malaysia. Most peopl are unable to discover these things because they are only able to be attracted to cultures/things that are obvious and familiar to to their understanding (China, India, Islam, Arabs). If only these people can ‘see’ the other things that exist and pretty much obvious in Multiculturalism Malaysia, they will appreciate the beauty of this country much much more. Like the single-ethnic identity countries such as Japan, Korea and Thailand, people visit these countries because they are so unique and different with little interventions from other BIG cultures.
D pandan pancakes n d durian cake look delicious. Kg Morten reminds me of Kg Baru in KL, stuck in middle of modern development but it's more organized.
im really suprise you guys make 83 video story about malaysia untill now compared another country you visited....tell me if im wrong...im very glad you guys love about Malaysia and i know Malaysia is underated country for visit...i hope when you leave soon..all memory in Malaysia always in your heart. stay safe
Pak putra has the best nan ... my fav... and also the kapitan... Interesting about the shop... “Pak Putra” is a malay name, their workers looks like indian muslims and the customers... full house by all races ... the beauty of Malaysia😍
no..tandoori is a method where you roast a chicken/beef inside a big cylindrical clay oven (called tandoor). And the redness is definitely comes from chili spices+yogurt.
That is not a light house. Kik3. That's is a menirate, where the 'muazin' ( the person who howl the azan / call for prayers) call people to come to the mosque & pray. Almost all big mosques have a memirate.
My fav affogato ... there is also affogato bingsu but its no longer available huhuhu You probably will like durian crepes. Its the only durian dessert that I like If I am not mistaken, homestay you need to call the owner, the house will not be occupied unless the owner stay in the same house. They put their number in front of the house and they will let you know if its available to stay
If you like seeing all those traditional house there is a place called "mini malaysia" where it's like park where they built actual traditional houses for all the 13 states in Malaysia. It's Ayer keroh, melaka about 25mins away from central of melaka.
Please come and visit the beautiful Shah Alam blue mosque ! not far from KL.. around 20 mins. It is considered as the second largest mosque in southeast asia
The chicken at the tandoori place is really nice because they're very fresh. They're slaughtered daily every morning. Don't forget to check out the Baba Low Nyonya Laksa and the Mee Goreng Bodoh.
Hi, since you like nasi Lemak, you should try the best Nasi Lemak in Malaysia. IT,S A small stall opposite the portugese Settlement in ujung Pasir Melaka. Operate 7 pm till 9 pm..
Afogatto... espresso & ice cream Its a Mosque Tower... not a light house... haha Tandoori is the oven... Tandoor... red is food colouring... Green mint chutney...
It's dhal.. the one steve pronounced was right not dhol.. hihihi... and if you wanna see traditional houses of Malaysia.. you may go to ayer keroh Melaka.. and experience the traditions life of malaysian..
Steve and ivana dont forget starting 1st august you be on your face mask all the time in public area. If you dont put on your face mask you will be fine by the authority
Thanks for this! We just heard about this today, and we have started wearing them already. We figure why wait for Aug 1 -- the second wave isn't going to wait for Aug 1!! lol
We figured it out, but it flies pretty awful around any sort of 'interference' -- basically anywhere near buildings. At Kampung Morten is was acting a little crazy, but at the mosque much better. All good, that's life!
@@JetLagWarriors Usually the interference is either the telecommunications tower or electricity tower. I faced the same problem too but mine was Phantom 3.
I saw in your previous vlogs that you two love the Malaysia’s kuih-muih! If you’re still in Melaka, please try the putu piring at Bukit Beruang, Melaka! It’s so good! You may find it as “Putu Piring Tradisional Bukit Beruang”. You may also try the “Hakka Mee Hoon Kuih” at Bukit Beruang too! It’s realy delicious too! The only downside is that you may have to wait for a long time for your order, but it’s worth the wait! The clear soup mee hun kuih and mala mee hoon kuih are my fav! Btw, I’m one of your subscribers from Melaka, Malaysia. So, welcome to Melaka! 🥳 enjoy your stay here 😉
So glad the drone works after all the trouble and so much travelling to get your hands on a functional drone. The interior inside the red coloured chicken rice restaurant rather unique to check it out..but I not like the chicken rice ball there..the chicken rice was ok. The naan both of you had looked very authentic and yummy fluffy with mint sauce ,I love the naans both of you had, will eat there when I go to Melaka next time. I really love good quality naan dip in mint sauce. I will ask for extra.mint dipping sauce. However many other mamak outlets I had patronised served horrible naan and no mint sauce ,just only dhall . Really disappointing. Not all outlets know how to make good naan. As for tandoori chicken, 1 portion can always share between 2 person..most of the time I will not order tandoori chicken as again most outlets also not nice..Naan and tandoori must always choose outlets based on highly recommended outlets...so if no idea, will just order roti canai to be safe . The breakfast venue also looks very cosy and I love the coffee presentation that both of you had..however as for the durian cake, I can find better ones in other location elsewhere..I love coffee and outlets with coffee culture..Starbucks coffee so so only but price increased so much..and their cakes shrinked in size ..ridiculous price at Starbucks Malaysia..
Hey, thanks for sharing this! Fresh naan and mint sauce is top notch. We actually wanted to ask for more mint sauce but we were shy lol 😊. And 'The Daily Fix' we definitely recommend! Was very cosy and the coffee was great. Thanks again SK BeeBee
@@JetLagWarriors I was hoping you would ask for more mint sauce..goes so well with naan, just go ahead ask for more mint sauce politely with big smile..
Steve, I'm surprise that you like durian which most westerners dislike . .In your other video, you had duriam cendol and now you had the durian cake. It's uncommon to see a Mat Salleh who likes durian.
Nice drone footage of Malacca in this video. D tandoori chicken n roti look amazingly scrumptious. D tandoori chicken red color comes from d chili powder.
@@JetLagWarriors ... That's what makes d Malay n Indian dishes so delicious. U can try it home like u did with other recipes. Marinade chicken with yogurt, herbs, spices, cilli powder n bake it in d oven.
Dear, Feel gd that you both in malacca or melaka... Enjoy yr daysssssss You look gd with hair growing.. You look young... 🤗🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭 It s ok to take pics esp in kg morten... Its a tourists place... Agree that the govt want to maintain or preserve it... Continue to wear masks... Plzzzz Go to tranquerah road area... And search for the mee bodoh... Is well known.. Enquire people along tranquerah road...
Must be Covid-related, but usually there are so many tables outside at Pak Putra--all full. But actually it seems outdoor seating would be preferable given the current coronavirus conditions.
Man, we've been loving Malacca so far, but it seems like a lot of our experience has been sort of reduced because of the lack of tourists. Here's hoping they come back rather quickly to help all the smaller businesses.
It’s pretty awful anywhere near a city, where there is ‘interference’. But at the mosque, it worked great! Says it can fly 4000m, but near houses or buildings we can’t get 40m.
@@JetLagWarriors oh I see, know kind a transmission problems, you should change to new one as it under warranty.. BTW, I myself love Malacca/Melaka.. our most historic state in Malaysia..hey, if you happen plan a trip to Kuantan, Pahang..let me now..I'll bring you to Pahang most wanted meals, ikan patin tempoyak..(I know you love tempoyak when you eat it at Singgang Budu in Terengganu🤣)..and most delicous cheese mango cake at Kula Cake house
