Our first day exploring Melaka!
We strolled around the city centre through the Red Dutch Square where the famous pink Christ Church is located, through Jonker street (stay tuned for our Jonker Street night market video!), we had some coffee from one of the many hip cafes around Melaka, we tried the famous chicken rice balls in Melaka, we admired the street arts around the Melaka river, as well as took the amazing evening Melaka river cruise!
Stay tuned for more travel vlogs including things to do in melaka, things to do in malaysia, malaysia travel vlog, malaysia travel guide, melaka travel vlog, melaka travel video, malacca travel guide, food tour in malaysia, nyonya food in melaka, best food in melaka.

@Bouya Its not crap, it is the truth! Actually it was the local authorities in Malacca that painted it to its current colour and the British had earlier painted it bright red. You really need to read more. Here is a scholarly article about it from academia. The Dutch embassy has more information about it too. As usual for Portuguese to not leaving any traces of the previous ruler in any places they set foot on. Look into what they doing in the Americas, they demolish native Mexican civilization... They do it so for Malacca Sultanate... They take all precious gold and jewels and precious records owned by the Sultans and demolished their palace then built their own fortresses. Luckily The Dutch are not like Portuguese, if not, there will be never any traces of Portuguese landmarks as we can see nowadays in Malacca.

If you go to the local coffee shop or kopitiam or cafe, they usually made the coffee with condensed milk, hence it becomes very sweet. Can ask for kopi O kosong (kosong mean zero sugar), with a little fresh milk on the side, which u can add according to your taste

malacca has a number of excellent nyonya restaurants. must try. this historical town is i believe the birth place of nyonyas, the intermarriage of Malays and Chinese in the early days. this city was conquered/colonized by the Portuguese, then Dutch, then English, then Japanese, then English...each left behind many tombstones. visit the Portuguese settlement outskirt of the town, to try out their cuisine. enjoy!

Yay, happy that you love Melaka. I’m from Melaka and I can’t stand the weather there, lol. If you have the time, try visiting the Cheng Hoon Teng temple, it has nice architecture.It is the street behind Jonker Walk, it’s the oldest Chinese temple in Malaysia. The street where the temple is on is called Temple Street if I’m not wrong as there is three places of worship in a row, a Chinese temple, a Hindu temple and a mosque. If you walk along the streets of Jonker Walk and it’s surrounding, you may notice that there are a few tombs. These tombs are the tombs of the friends of Hang Tuah, a group of people that is very famous in Malaysia during the Malacca Sultanate days. I can’t really recommend much food to you as I usually eat at home when I’m back in Melaka, haha. But here are the few that I like: 1. Nyonya Kuih at Soon Yen coffee shop in Tengkera (in the morning around 8am to 9am) 2. Cendol at Jonker 88 (lots of ppl go there for nyonya Asam laksa but I’m not an Asam laksa fan, so not sure how good it is) 3. Coconut shake at Klebang (very refreshing to counter the hot weather in Melaka) 4. Melaka pineapple tarts (can get this from shops in Jonker Street) 5. Nyonya food at Home Taste Restaurant @ Kota Laksamana (food here taste almost like home cooked Nyonya food and the price is reasonable) Enjoy the quietness while you can. I think there will be lots of people during the weekend. :) Have fun! Looking forward to new vlogs.

Hi, regarding coffee with milk and not sweetened, ask for black coffee with evaporated milk and no sugar. In Malaysia there are two kinds of milk for coffee and tea, evaporated milk which is not sweetened with sugar, or condensed milk which is already made sweetened with sugar. When I go back to Malaysia I always ask for black coffee with evaporated milk, no sugar. Some places would then give you black coffee with evaporated milk and then add sugar so you gotta have to tell them no sugar also. Hope this helps!

The most original of all chicken rice ball is Chung Wah which is at the corner of the bridge, next to Hard Rock Cafe, they are the ones who started the rice balls. I grew up on Heeren Street, which is the street next to Jonker Street. Jonker is pronounced "Yonker" coz it's Dutch. If you like Satay, please go look for Ming Satay Hut, they serve pork satay served with peanut + pineapple sauce....to die for......

Welcome to Melaka from a Straits Chinese (Baba) currently working in KL. 😁 At 2:50, they planned to make a parking lot in front of the St Francis Xavier Church but they dug into some old ruins so, the authorities blocked off the front area. You have to be careful of where you dig in Melaka Town. 😅 Melaka is generally hot with it being so close to the sea and being closer to the equator than KL and also the whole climate change thing. The places usually come alive in the evenings.

Coffee, milk without sugar. Here in Sabah we call "Kopi C kosong". Coffee and evaporated creamer only. I don't know if u can use that in any other states. But u can try. 😉

Good to enjoy Malacca on weekdays. Less crowded and busy. You’ll have most cafes by yourselves. But weekend, prepare to see big crowds there. You can barely walk in Jonker Night Market on Saturday night.

You will never get unsweet coffee with milk in street side restaurant in Malaysia, because coffee with milk means coffee mixed with condensed milk which is a sweet milk, if no sugar always order nescafe o or kopi o and mentioned no sugar or less sugar

I just came back from Melaka last month. Best time to go there since it's really quiet and not many ppl + traffic. So you get to eat at famous eateries minus the crowd + queue. Try out Sun May Hiong Satay House's pork satay with pineapple sauce. It's soooooo good. Also the coconut shake in Pantai Klebang. Also for authentic Nyonya food, try Nancy's Kitchen.

No, bulletproof coffee is literally adding butter to coffee and then blending it. Malaysian coffee beans are roasted with margarine only meaning only during the roasting process.

If you want to see something different you can see the rock St Francis Xavier first stepped on when he arrived in Malacca. It isn't much to view but historically interesting. It in a park off Jalan Kota. Not really publicized much

I have lived in Malacca since 1938 and am unaware of the rock on which St. Ftancis stepped on when arrived in Malacca. However I know the spot where the Portugese erre supposed to have first stepped on Malayan soil. Tenghu Abdul Rahman chose this spot to proclaim Malaya's Independence upon returning from England in Febuary 1957 . This spot is marked with a plague in the Taman in Jalan Kota. Few visitors are aware of the significance of this neglected and inconspicuous spot.
@carrolus1
@carrolus1 4 года назад
@@Ravenplayz-lu6wv Its definately there. I first saw it in 1974 and was in Malacca earlier this year and its still there. The rock was moved from its original location to Taman Bunka Merdka due to reclamation works. There is a metal cross next to it. As I said not a well know atraction.
