In November 2001, the Higashiyama Higashigashi district in Kanazawa City was selected as the first preservation district for groups of traditional buildings in Ishikawa Prefecture, and on December 28, 2012, the "Kanazawa City Teramachidai" was selected, making it the number of Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings in the prefecture to "8 districts", surpassing the 7 districts in Kyoto Prefecture to become the largest (Japan number in Japan).
This time, we will introduce the "Kanazawa City Utatsuyama Foot Traditional Buildings Preservation District", which was selected as a preservation district for groups of traditional buildings on November 29, 2011, with a focus on the "Utatsuyama Foot Temples Complex".The three temples of Kanazawa were built around 1616 by Maeda Toshitsune, the third lord of Kaga Domain, to three locations: the Utatsuyama Mountains Foot Temples to the northeast of the castle, the Kotatsuno Temples to the southeast, and the Teramachi Temples to the southwest. There are about 50 temples and shrines in the "Utatsuyama Mountain Foot Temples Group". It is said that Mt. Utatsu was protected from evil because it becomes a demon gate (northeast) as seen from Kanazawa Castle.
We will introduce "Genmonji Temple", "Ryukokuji Temple", "Shinjoji Temple", "Three Treasure Temple", and "Honkoji Temple" in that order.
