Double was spot on about speaking with your own voice - when talking about "Up north", the most successful artists to come out of Manchester and Birmingham in recent years have all been the ones who spit clearly in their own accent, Bugzy Malone, Aitch, Lady Leshurr, Jaykae, Socks etc. etc. Everybody before the current era was trying to emulate the London sound.
Love these talks. I went school in north London. They would call me and my boys the Foreign Embassy (even though most of us were London born). Then times it was cultural appreciation rather than appropriation

The thing that amazes me about double is how humble he is been the goat for all these years never comes across as arrogant. Whenever he explains things he never tries to over analyse anything or explain things in much depth so simple yet so interesting. The way he mc’s so fast and lyrical it doesn’t make sense ahaha it’s like he turns into a different person on the mic. Like Kane said a 1 off never be another double.

Kano if you do continue this epic series I wish you could get "Mike De Underground" (Mike Aymer) and his brother Cool Hand Flex!! They owned the Jah Youth Sound System in Forest Gate and also set up a record shop in Gate to those that remember it "De Underground Records". They were legends on Hardcore and Jungle scenes. Big respect to them.

What’s amazing about the power of D Dub, I used to get phone calls from friends and family and had information before D Dub go on radio, remember waiting, he was the one most people wanted to listen to. This was amazing because it reminded of how much Grime had a big impact in my life and I saw D Dub as a superstar in the scene and still do. Wish them all the best of success in life because them man still get my hyped whenever I see them on Tv or make music.

so lucky i got to go the kano concert in brum before the lockdown, best night of this shit year that was ruined through the virus. footsie smashed it too, defo right about having a diverse crowd, young and old rapping along like karaoke. i will always remember the smile on kano's face when he was performing, enjoying every minute just as much as the fans. never mind best night of the year, was one of the best shows of the decade
I was born in Newham general and lived in plaistow until I was 9. I often wonder how things would have been if I'd stayed. There wasnt much hope going around in the 90s
