to be honest kano is one of the best state in Nigeria, economic hub, developed and diverse, most nigerians especially from the south are very ignorant of the north largely because of what they are being fed by the media which in most cases a mere exaggeration and stereotype. most of them when they visit or stay in kano they completely change their misconception about the state. I am currently living in the UK but undoubtedly i am coming back to my lovely hometown Kano someday. Thanks to Kwankwaso for transforming kano and his successor Ganduje. kano tumbin giwa yaro ko dame kazo an fika😄😀😍🥰

Oga i am glad you saw it for yourself. This is what i was trying to explain to one of your followers on another video. Igbos and non hausas are always welcome in the North and its the politicians and groups with selfish interests that are dividing Nigeria and its citizens.

Although religion plays a major role but ethnicity comes into play either even in such crises it’s very hard for people of kano to attack a white American or British man just because he’s a Christian, you’ll equally find it hard for someone in the south or east to attack someone just because he’s Muslim from lebanon during such ethno-religious crises in other words Nigerian from Kano will also worry more about his life than expatriate in the east or south!! This tells you that there’s something bigger than that….and I call it intolerance and animosity that an average Nigerian has towards his brother from another region or tribe!! The more we accept our diversity and love ourselves the better!!

Awesome video. Thank you for this. Most Nigerian RU-vidrs just cover the known problems without showing the good parts as you have done. Thanks 1. Begging in Kano is not allowed and we have enforcement agencies that do arrest beggars on sight. It is also frowned upon by religious scholars in the state. 2. Entrepreneurship and apprenticeship are core parts of Kano culture that most people don't talk about. 4. Sabon gari (new town), was created by Kano indigenes to accommodate the nonnatives "Nigerians" who came in during the British rule with different customs and religions but still wanted to live in Kano. Although in recent times, more natives have also begun to build homes there as well. 5. Other than petty thievery and occasional hooliganism, Kano is easily the safest city in the North. Most people speak decent English and are generally welcoming.

Well, I think the reason could be that most people that have lived in Kano for decades have come to the bitter reality that it is far better to engage into mini businesses that can fetch them earnings, no matter how meager than to engage into fruitless begging, hoping for nothing and day dreaming. History has proved that Kano has been a center of commerce for a long time in Nigeria. Although many business men are satisfied with their profit strength and may not push beyond their limits. Since also, begging is being frowned at in Islam except if it is the only way to survive hunger under strict circumstances. In Abuja on the other hand, there are a lot of people that will always sympathize with people eliciting sympathy and pity, especially with the high rate of insurgency ravaging the country. Lastly, I really commend you for such wonderful research. Keep it up please. Kind regards.

We were never taught to hate southerners. Infact my dad May he find sojourn in paradise Ameen, was accommodating Igbo people since before the Biafra war free of charge. He got one married to a Hausa Lady and they had three children who are all in their 40s and 50s now. One Igbo gentleman actually wanted to marry me when I was 18. My dad didn't object, the only thing he said was that he had to become a muslim in order to do that and the man was willing. Well I was 18 then and he was 40 with a slight potbelly. I refused. Years later, I saw the announcement of his wedding to an Igbo Lady. Trust women!! I felt slightly bad, but there you are!! I. just wish you people will lose your prejudice about the North. Just an advice, please don’t follow the CNN and foreign narrative when they present stories on Nigeria and other third world countries. They almost always choose pictures of suffering. Your work is excellent, please choose very good pictures that portray our people better.

Guys I do not dispute the difficulties we have on the ground in Nigeria. But if you are talking about the great surprises you saw in Kano and how pleasantly surprised you found your trip maybe a picture that depicts the great culture of our Hausa brothers or beautiful peaceful atmosphere would have been better. It’s just a question of optics. Thanks for responding to my advice. I do not criticize your work at all. It was a great story, I have never been to Kano, so your artistic work provided me with a very welcome information on that great city! Thanks again and may God bless your work!

No place in Nigeria that isn't save,just that sometimes, due to some things that have happened in the past,that stereo type always rings in people mind such as kano riot of 1953 when the southern elites were attacked for demanding for self independence which suppose to take in 1957 and not 1960,infact that crisis was responsible for the dèlyance of Nigerian independence which suppose to happen in 1957 and not 1960.Secondly when former president Good luck Jonathan won election in 2011, some guys in kano been brain wash by some greedy politicians started breaking and burning 🔥 some southerners and Christians shops and houses and started looting innocent people properties, so on and so on.Normally to be Frank KANO like any other place in North and Nigeria in general is fantastic just that many people have been brain wash and is too common in the Northern part of Nigeria 🇳🇬, Abuja is more saver than kano, let them not brain wash you

@fattbussy1
@fattbussy1 2 года назад
Exactly, what happened during past religious riots in kano. Many non indigenes had to flee.
@sararinsammai1769
@sararinsammai1769 2 года назад
That's for them to feel at home culturally. People of kano are religiously guided on what they drink, eat and wear. And everyone living in their midst must act the same. So for non indigens to live as if they're in their respective states of origins they need to settle away from the main city. Example, alcohol is prohibited in the city. So there should be no alcohol joints withing the city. That also will inconvenience the non natives. So they need a separate place to enjoy their lives without disturbing the natives. Consumption of meat of some animals is also prohibited in Islam which is the religion of the dwellers of the city. Animals like pig, dog, donkey, rats, bats, etc. And thirdly, dress code. Women are expected to cover their body while walking in the streets of the city. That could be very inconvenient to the non natives. They also need to build their churches, temples and synagogues where they could practice their faith without any hindrance.
