Agree 💯 with your assessment of Steve. I have no one to hold my hand at the end of this life. Steve has "been there" thru my Hospice days, that failed,and now with a week or so to go as my tumors become impossibly large-Steve is singing me on to a kinder, peaceful,more loving place. If only my dying wish to meet him had been realized. Steve Walsh is a magical force & a blessing to this World musically & in every context of the word "magical".

I´m really sorry to hear! I survived cancer, atleast so far. Since I first heard Steve on Left Overture, when I was 14 years old, he has always been my favorite singer. No one touches me like SW. I get goose bumps everytime I hear him. We truly have something incommon. I can only wish you all the best! .

There is no blues/rock vocalist/songwriter/musician, who equals Steve Walsh, in my opinion. It isn't merely his vocal power, ability to roll his tongue around the notes & embody them; his angelic tones juxtaposed with his growls; his passion & pure adoration of of music-it is his genius songwriting talent & his musical ability to touch almost any instrument & meld with it as if they are one!

It's Warren Ham, the same musician that made on the Vinyl Tour and plays flute, sax and additional keyboards on that tour.

The alphabet would sound amazing sung by Steve! Hell...even the phone book (for those of us that still remember what they are).

You could tell they really did not want to be in such close proximity at that point in their lives. It's good to know time heals!

Absolutely have to agree with you 100% here. The first-era Kansas Steve was an ubtouchable vocal God. It's really sad and plain jarring when you think that this is just before his voice started declining. Sure, he did branch out and get creative during his solo career after '82, but it's as if the moment Kansas went out of his life, he just let himself go. As soon as that part of his life had passed, he indulged in destructive habits that made his voice almost unrecognizeable. I like to think that Kansas gave him a lot of motivation to keep him going and abstain from drugs and alcohol; the standard that had to be kept was too high to fuck up. I sometimes wonder what his voice would be like in the 90's and 2000's--hell, even _today_--if Kansas eased up on the touring and settled down to record a bunch of material. Would Steve have kept his voice? That's something we can only ponder now.

@@martintaper7997 He left early in the creation so it was replaced by Elefante, who also co composed some songs and he played keys too

I prefer this raw version w Steve singing (a no brainer for me, his emotional voice wins every time in my book). I agree with you arrangement wise too, I wish this version had been recorded properly and not just as a demo.

@@linneasaoirse Some weeks ago I counted and there were only 6 love songs Kansas made with the Original lineup in the 1970s till 1980 album, all other songs are no love songs. That's a good joke! I laughed.

No way, Ham is all over the place with his Ad-Libs, making more about vocal acrobatics and forgetting about emotion. Besides that, Steve, ofcourse has the bigger voice. This was "just" a Demo, imagine Steve recording for real, it would have been a Classic!
