I love this song so much. Though, I'm not military, I grew up in Kansas City, but moved away when I was 23. I love seeing the lights of my hometown when I can visit.

I bet this song has enjoyed a revival since the Royals won the World Series and the Chiefs won the Super Bowl :) A favorite of mine, in '82 and now.

I used to fly surveillance missions off the coast of Cuba bark in the 80's (USAF), and this song reminds me of flying back to base at night along the Overseas Highway from Key West to Homestead.
